They've created a niche show full of conniving, backstabbing yet lovable characters so they might as well follow their formula and wring out all the comedy they can.

There were a lot of gimmick-lite plots that sometimes didn't cohere all too clearly but always had enough straight comedy to prop them up.

There's a reason this show has lasted five... seasons, and it's because these lazy, stupid, insensitive bastards are worse people than the cast of Seinfeld, if that's actually possible, and yet they're so much more loveable.

Season 5 brings more of the same, but the characters are so well delineated and the performances are so solid that more of the same is a good thing.

Sunny may not be the most highbrow comedy on television, but it's arguably the one with the highest density of actual laughs.
