Probably, James May isn't as funny as he thinks he is, but he does have natural warmth and a sense of mischief, and it's all carried along nicely by that. Go to Full Review
Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald 11/19/2020
The unendearing May does provide plenty of tasty little tidbits of food history with which they can regale people when they give up and go down to the take-away. One for the fans. Go to Full Review

The endearingly enthusiastic host is surprised when his dishes succeed and palpably thrilled when people enjoy them. Go to Full Review

May is quite pleased with his rambunctiousness here, even though it's only a tepid bit of rebellion and is typically the domain of YouTubers and such. Go to Full Review

I haven't enjoyed a cooking show this much since spending a late 1980s summer as a teenager watching old episodes of Julia Child mastering the art of French cuisine. Go to Full Review

Estrella86 Feb 15 I enjoyed this series and was glad that they renewed it for a season 2. I like when he includes the crew on discussions or comments during the show. It makes you feel like part of the team watching and gives a nice casual atmosphere that keeps it from being stuffy and includes May's usual self deprecating humor. See more Jonathan L 07/19/2023 This show was great fun, inspirational and gave you insight into both new easy recipes but also the whole process of making a cooking show. It was a joy to watch. James May is always entertaining. A very intelligent man with an understated sense of humour that roles out easily and a gentle charisma rooted in his passion and wonder. See more 01/17/2022 My one and only complaint is that he never says any measurements, no doubt to compel you to buy the cookbook. Otherwise, I thought it was a great series! Funny and interesting, it has definitely had an impact on my cooking! See more 04/11/2021 It's a pretty good show, and Nikki's appearances with help/advice are an additional bit of sprinkled in 'spice' in an otherwise continuous cooking show, making sure we don't get tired of just James May on-screen. I quite enjoyed it, a new favourite show for me. See more Paul v 01/27/2021 Funny and interesting And has warning about drugs because of a joke :) See more 01/13/2021 It's so simple, short and britishly funny you just have to watch it since an afternoon is enough for the first season. Hope they continue it See more Read all reviews
