Karma doesn’t get everything right, but it’s also a reality show. Michelle had to learn much of what she was doing on the fly and its clear that she grew better and better at fulfilling her role and working with the teens as the show went on. Go to Full Review

Karma has gathered an eclectic and charming group of teenagers in the Sierras for a game that has lofty ambitions, but which actually has some of the worst reality TV game design I've ever seen Go to Full Review

08/20/2020 This show is just not good. The editing makes it difficult to connect. The host is uncharismatic and does not command any presence. Most of the contestants show little to no effort in fairly simple challenges. The contestants are also fairly illogical and are not entertaining to watch strategically. From a social experiment perspective this show has promise, but it leans to heavily into the drama and its title "Karma". One contestant, Ilya, said that she did not want to be defined by her religion and prove how tough she was, but at every turn references "her scarf" and her religion. It feels so forced, partially because none of the other contestants mention their background, ethnic or otherwise. The "Cave of Karma" also presents an aspect of the game with no strategy or challenge involved, just pure luck decides whether or not you stay, fairly boring to the viewer. This show would benefit from a more Survivor-like format with less story structure, more complex challenges, and no pairs. It could also gain from adding a new or second host, choosing kids closer in age, and slightly older, as well as a different environment. The generic forest setting is fairly bland, especially in comparison to Survivor's beautiful Fiji backdrop. Some development, changes in production priorities could make this show a strong competitor in the teen/reality/vaguely sexist/angst/drama genre See more Read all reviews
