Despite the stylized, heightened nature of the show, it still feels terribly real.

Killing Eve is hilarious and truthful, even as it moves within a tried-and-true TV formula.
April 6, 2018
The tension of Killing Eve's globetrotting machinations is only rivaled by watching our heroine and antiheroine becoming increasingly fixated on each other.

Killing Eve is unlike any other spy drama you've seen and that's why it's so excellent. It does away with the conventions of the genre

The series combines a dry comedy's affection for the mundane with the slick look and tone of a psychosexual thriller.

But dammit, it is fun - an addictive and surprisingly witty thriller powered by two remarkable female performances, and a welcome counterbalance to dour, moody British crime dramas like Luther and The Fall.

Slickly made and mightily entertaining, Killing Eve brings a new energy to the well-worn game of cat-and-mouse staged by many a murder mystery.

Killing Eve makes a specific insight that's less about female depravity than why other women are drawn to it. It's my favorite series of the year so far, not least because it makes me feel more than a little called out.

The show is both following a few pop culture tropes and also overturning them.

Killing Eve has less than zero interest in playing at "prestige." It would rather be its own weird, sexy, sad, scary, excellent self.
April 6, 2018
Eve gives [Sandra Oh], often relegated to supporting roles, the opportunity to shine as a lead, and the mix of intelligence and mania she gives Eve is magnetic.

Killing Eve is subversive at its most basic level, taking the classic good-guy-chases-villain template and placing two women in the primary roles.
April 3, 2018
A show that works to bring a fresh tonal idea to a tired genre.
April 6, 2018
What makes Killing Eve so compelling is the same thing that makes it an unmistakable Phoebe Waller-Bridge production; both women are deviant, brilliant troublemakers, both women are terribly uninterested in pedestrian life.

If you feel like you can't possibly fit another new TV series into your life, just quit watching your favorite show and make Killing Eve a higher priority.

An auspicious start to a terrifically surprising series...Killing Eve's technique is well-thought-through and executed, with daring choices made at each step.
April 9, 2018
Killing Eve is a helluva good time, it's already more interesting than many of its genre peers, and the first season illustrates a self-awareness essential for its survival. The show may follow a formula, but there's nothing routine about it.

I'm not sure I've ever seen that messy tangle of friendly, almost pheromonal antagonism portrayed with this much complexity.
April 9, 2018
It blends dark comedy with sometimes darker drama and still comes away with something that's astonishingly fast-paced and fun to watch.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, best known for writing and starring in the superb dark comedy series Fleabag, adapts Luke Jennings' books with humor and a dash of the absurd.
