The Last Man on Earth is the most fascinating comedy premiere in recent memory, a surprisingly reflective show.

As the show makes hysterically clear, if the weight of the world falls on a 21st century man's shoulders, the slovenly, lazy, daydreaming animal inside is quick to emerge.

The strength of The Last Man on Earth resides in the peculiar sense of humor of its protagonist, a Forte who has earned a place in the pantheon of great talents. [Full Review in Spanish]

It can at least claim to be one of the more original new shows on television.

The apocalypse of Last Man is real, and Forte, Lord, and Miller aren't afraid to show the toll it's taken on both Phil and Carol in vastly different ways.

An ambitious and thoughtful comedy that features a great acting performance and asks viewers to ponder some big existential questions while giggling at the small-scale silly stuff.

Credit for the success of this gambit falls largely to Schaal, who manages to transform the rather shrill rule-follower, harping on proper grammar and traffic laws, into engaging, funny company.

On the surface, the premise for Fox's new comedy The Last Man on Earth seems thin, but it turns out to remarkably durable and funny, at least for the first two episodes.

The Last Man on Earth is the rare broadcast show to both celebrate and embrace volatility... It's precisely the sort of thing you didn't know you wanted. And now it's impossible to imagine life without it.

Great character, inventive premise, clever production. The question is, would it have made a better movie than an ongoing series?
March 3, 2015
It's the most unusual new comedy of the year, and it's also one of the best.

If you can get through the depressing first half, there are a few laughs in the second episode.

Despite the incredibly dark premise, what distinguishes the early stages of The Last Man On Earth is the light and sure-footed way that a lot of obvious logical questions are totally ignored, while a lot of human questions are embraced and explored.

Forte projects an innate normality, an averageness and equanimity, that keeps his characters companionable, even at their most extravagant, astringent or abnormal.
March 2, 2015
The Last Man on Earth is the best last man on Earth take that I've seen in years.

The fact that it's different and ambitious... already makes Last Man more interesting than many new shows.

Watching Fox's wonderfully creative and ridiculously entertaining new series The Last Man on Earth, you can't help but laugh (it's a comedy - duh), but also be truly and utterly impressed.
