Mike reluctantly agrees to baby proof the house at the request of the rest of his family, but then they realize they may have been overzealous with their safety precautions. Meanwhile, Mike finds Mandy a pizza-delivery job.
Mike gets Boyd expelled from day care when he insults the teacher on Grandparents Day, and now he has to look after Boyd; and Vanessa tries to look younger when a grandmother at the day care thinks they're the same age.
Mike sneaks Boyd out of the house on Halloween to go trick-or-treating, even though Kristin has told him she's against it.
Mike's softball team must decide whether to allow women to play; and Mandy fills out college applications while her parents try to persuade her about which college to choose.
Vanessa asks Mike to be the one who says "no" to Mandy when she wants to try out for a modeling show, since he usually says "yes" to his daughters for everything.
A neighbor's home is invaded, prompting Vanessa to organize a neighborhood watch, which bothers Mike, who thinks firearms and fists are the answer to the problem.
Mike sets new house rules for his daughters after Kyle innocently falls asleep in Kristin's bedroom after a date.

Critic Reviews for Last Man Standing Season 1
All Critics (37) | Top Critics (22) | Fresh (5) | Rotten (32)
Sometime it weakly titters while other times approaching a collective guffaw.
Very probably the worst sitcom on network television.
Dreadful. Or to use a more manly phrase, aaarrgggh, awful.
The running gag of Last Man Standing has Allen playing the rooster in a henhouse, asserting male supremacy at every turn.
There's reliable humor in the formula but it's all too tedious.
As borderline odious and stale as some of the jokes are in the pilot, Last Man Standing could be a fixer-upper.
It's a harmless, run-of-the-mill family sitcom, but they've made sitcoms in the past that I've laughed at. If you aren't going to have funny jokes, then stop filling in the empty space with huge character inconsistencies and logical flaws.
If Allen was a bumbling father to three sons before, he is even more incompetent with three daughters, and it's not funny. It's child abuse-and viewer abuse.
Last Man Standing's boneheaded sense of gender politics would be less annoying if the jokes were funnier.
While there are a couple jokes that made us laugh, they were overshadowed by the unnecessary laugh track and the very evident been-there-done-that premise of the show.
A throwback comedy that should have been thrown back.
If you're looking for comedy that doesn't feel like it's rooted in 1995, Last Man Standing might not be your cup of tea.

Feb 03, 2021Just another ''comedy' show. Nothing special of interesting cast.
-
May 02, 2020Great show that gives people who are very different yet still love each other. Since it has a main character who is conservative the critics slam it. Because it does not fit into there political views it must be horrible. If they could look past that they would see that the show makes you laugh and also makes you think about issues and not just from the conservative point of view.

Apr 28, 2020Last Man Standing (all seasons) is the worst show I have ever had the displeasure of watching. Tim Allen's character (Mike) is one of the most distasteful portrayals of white men I have ever seen on television. His daughter is equally annoying because she behaves in the exact disgusting manner as he does. The whole Democrat vs Republican argument between Mike and his son in law is so drawn out and overdone it's ridiculous. No sane human being acts the way Mike does towards his family. It's awful, disgusting, and sometimes just plain abusive - I dare say.I don't know what qualities this man has that would possess any woman to marry him; and not divorce him. What would be nice is to have a comedy show where a man doesn't act like a total douche. Even in the show Blackish, Mike and Molly, etc. It's just so overdone I don't even find comedy shows funny now days. Just a bunch of God awful characters acting downright abusive towards each other. How is this behavior funny in the least? Please tell me.

Oct 11, 2019Refreshing type of humor.

Oct 06, 2019Release this down under - they don't show it on TV, and every single person of all ages, of the 30+ folks I've watched it with just love it!

Oct 17, 2018A fantastic family driven show that albeit may sway towards Conservative values, it nonetheless bridges any gaps with other belief platforms (and accomplishes this in a funny, witty and intelligent way!).... Its cancellation came as a shock to many including myself, however it is little surprise that its revival came out swinging with the same magic that made it popular with many of us to begin with! Excellent work from the cast and crew!!!

May 16, 2018The reason people don't like it is because it points out all the flaws of modern america and where it's trying to go. This show is amazing. Step out of the way people.
