Tv Season Info

Season 7 continues the format established in Season 5, with NYPD detectives Robert Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Alexandra Eames (Kathryn Erbe) alternating cases with their Major Case Squad compatriots Mike Logan (Chris Noth) and Megan Wheeler (Julianne Nicholson)—though hard-nosed Nola Falacci (Alicia Witt) fills in for Wheeler at the season's start. (Nicholson was on maternity leave.) Among the cases tackled: the murder of Eames' slain husband's partner; the ritualistic murder of an obstetrician; the death of a witness in a highly publicized rape trial; and the execution-style murders of three college students. Also, Goren goes undercover at a psychiatric facility to investigate an alleged murder. Guest stars include Amy Acker, Peter Coyote, Steve Guttenberg, Christopher Lloyd, Mary McCormack, Mo Rocca, Dean Winters and, in her last appearance as the nefarious Nicole Wallace, Olivia d'Abo.

Critic Reviews for Law & Order: Criminal Intent: Season 7

All Critics (4) | Top Critics (1)

With his quirks, twitches and improbable feats of deduction, D'Onofrio's Detective Goren can be annoying but does provide this version of the Law & Order stable with a point of difference. Without him it's just another cop show.

Shows like Criminal Intent hang their formula-driven plots on the personalities of its stars. D'Onofrio, Erbe, Noth, and Nicholson are all reasonably good but none is really capable of carrying the show, either.

Even after repeated views, this show remains enigmatic, engrossing, and suspenseful.

While Noth comes off as the weaker cop, this [season] still adds up to 16 hours of compelling good-guy-outsmarting-bad-guy entertainment.
