Dim H @RT20809312 Jul 24 If you haven't read the books, this is okay. But if you have read the books, this is pure frustration. A missed opportunity. Except for the first two parts, this story is nothing like the original. 2-dimensional characters without depth or growth. They changed Sharpe into a caricature of herself. This is really sad. My recommendation: read the books. There are people who give this 5 stars, claim to be fans of the books, and are asking for another season. If you were a fan of the books, you would know the story is told, and there is nothing more. Set as an alternate world war 2 exploration, the series has a very inclusive and imaginative feeling to it. There are many strong characters who develop as the season progresses. The art style and direction are both strong and work well for the story. I think the popularity of this series will grow as more people discover it! See more Jacoby U @RT35649140 Jul 15 The entire trilogy of novels crammed into one 12 episode season with 20-30 minute episodes, absolutely doesn't do the story justice. Even then it was pretty okay for the most part, up until the last 4 episodes that is. A bunch of unnecessary and frustrating changes, including completely abandoning the ending of the books, with the main characters going down complete opposite paths from the ones they took in the book, and their romance also abandoned as a result. I really wanted to love it, despite my issues with how much of the story was being adapted into such a short timeframe, but it doesn't remain faithful to the source material, doesn't capitalize on the uniqueness of the world, and rushes through proper development of its characters and plot. As an adaptation, it drops the ball, and as its own self-contained story, it's frustratingly mediocre. Also, anyone who claims to be a fan of the books, but asks if there will be a season 2, clearly isn't as familiar with the story as they pretend, seeing as how there's nothing left of the story to adapt into future seasons. They stuffed it all into these 12 episodes.
