What to Know

Critics Consensus

More tedious than it is dangerous, Liaison generates some spark from Vincent Cassel and Eva Green's pairing but generally underwhelms as an anemic addition to the espionage genre.

Liaison lacks an inventive approach or even a satisfying character-driven angle to set it apart from its ilk. Go to Full Review

It’s one of those shows where almost every conversation centers on what a character needs and what they’re going to do to get it. Go to Full Review

A tired spycraft story that lumbers from trope to trope, even as it tries to spice things up with more contemporary nuances. Go to Full Review

So many TV thrillers make the mistake of trying to keep our nerves jangling non-stop. Liaison (Apple TV+'s first Anglo-French production) falls into this trap, and as a result it wastes its sexy and beguiling stars, Eva Green and Vincent Cassel. Go to Full Review

Green & Cassel have smoldering chemistry, but AppleTV+’s first Anglo-French spy series is more tedious than thrilling despite its stellar cast. Go to Full Review

Ultimately, the pace lags in this show, and the international aspect doesn't tantalize as much as it should. Go to Full Review

It's all about post Brexit Britain and its relationship with the EU with the plot revolving around cybersecurity. It's not a stretch to imagine malevolent interests undermining control of vital infrastructure. It's happening already. I particularly like the dynamic between Alison and Gabriel. Excellent performances. And the way Alison's appearance fits the circumstances she is in: red eyes, dirty face, bruising and bad hair after numerous fights, falls etc. Am I the only one irritated by female leads with fresh lippy and blusher intact after days without access to a sink ley alone any supplies? Lol. A real woman at last. See more victor w @RT03643624 Dec 7 Potentially a great show but even Vincent Cassals couldn't save it. By the time they got to the final episode, the producer had run out of money, or the director out of steam. The denouement left one scratching one's head, saying WTF just happened! A poor reward for having weathered six hours of it.
