Lilyhammer: Season 1 (2012)

SEASON:

Season 1
Lilyhammer

Critics Consensus

Relying on Steven Van Zandt's wry gravitas, Lilyhammer mines gentle chuckles from its fish-out-of-water scenario, but declines to offer much beyond a culture clash between Nordic and wiseguy caricatures.

Great mix of intrigue and comedy. A show that doesn't take itself too seriously snd delivers hours of entertainment. No political correct indoctrination which is strange for a show produced by Netflix. Not agenda. Just good writing and great acting. You'll really feel for the characters

It bluntly promotes: blackmailing, using brutal force against innocent others, mocking others, stereotyping entire nations/ races/ religions. It doesn't show that there's a moral consequence for disobeying the law, the message from this low quality work: be bad but smart and you'll be rewarded. Mocking Scandinavians and their values in such a rude way? I'll stop my Netflix or downgrade my subscription at least

This is a phenomenal show....saw all three seasons. How can you say it doesn't offer much? We're you asleep? Great writing, creative inventive story lines and characters. Great scenery. Great acting. Wonderful music. So sorry when it ended. We loved it.

Recently I've been hooked in by a couple of Nordic series and gave this one a shot already knowing it was not going to be The Godfather. It takes a while for the cast and director to get a grip and you have to forgive some of the naivete in the early episodes. Eventually though, it steps up gear and as the characters come to life you'll find yourself hooting with laughter. Have some patience. It won't blow you away but it won't waste your time either. Get the popcorn out. It's a worthwhile binge.

It may sound quite strange, but most comedies today forget thar their main goal should be to make people laugh. Fortunatelly, this is not the case with Lillyhammer. Unapollogetiaclly funny, clever and with beautiful scenery, it is quite hard no to binge it. A truly hidden Netflix gem.

It's worth a look. I liked it. It's Sopranos super light, but a good binge watch.

If you liked Steven Van Zandt in Sopranos, I think you'll really like this show.
