Critic Reviews for Limetown Season 1
All Critics (14) | Top Critics (7) | Fresh (10) | Rotten (4)
Gripping, succinct, punchy and thrilling, the spirit of the very best of 1970s paranoia films permeates Limetown, making it essential, captivating viewing.
With a creepy story and a strong lead performance, Limetown is definitely worth checking out, whether you're a fan of the podcast or not.
The mystery is more than engaging enough to keep me watching, and Biel really does a lot of heavy lifting in terms of holding it all together.
The contributions of a commanding lead like Jessica Biel and outstanding support from Stanley Tucci help this version of Limetown feel as engrossing and necessary as the first.
Limetown is tosh of the highest quality.
It's also a slow, dark crime story that focuses only on the crime itself, to the detriment of getting to know its characters better, or any possible hint of lightness that would make us want to stay in Limetown long enough to get answers.
Unfortunately, the premise is about all Limetown has going for it. The plot details are silly.
Limetown is a (perhaps too) faithful adaptation of the hit podcast that has plenty of potential and a superb cast.
The production crew takes all of the mental pictures painted by the dialogue and transforms them into visual poetry that creates an atmosphere you can feel for hours afterward.
Limetown is watchable due to the performances of Biel and Tucci, and it seems to cover a little more ground than the original podcast.
The mark of a good show is when it leaves you wanting more, and Limetown definitely accomplishes that goal.
While Limetown the podcast felt tight and well-planned, Limetown the show struggles to establish solid footing.

Jan 22, 2021More compelling than I expected, and well paced, I was hoping there'd be a second season... but even this partial mystery ride was definitely worth the time.

Jan 14, 2021This show gave me tons of suspense and mystery in Season 1, leaving a lot to be discovered. Just when you think you know..... you quickly find out that you're literally miles away from the truth. So much was revealed in Season 1 that I worry Season 2 will not be as mysterious. We shall see. Overall, solid cast/casting. Jessica Biel shines bright in Limetown.

Jan 03, 2021Started off well but then the writers ruined it by showing a lesbian love scene between Lia and her girlfriend. Then to top it off, they felt it necessary to show Lia masturbating while watching a video recording of that scene..........WTF is wrong with Hollywood shoving this unnecessary crap down our throats? I don't need this irrelevant, gratuitous crap to enjoy a movie.........

Nov 14, 2019Brilliant. It keeps the suspense through all 10 episodes. I need its second season.
