emma p @EmmaJP123 Feb 6 I’m sorry but I think they sadly got this wrong. During 2010-2012 the "choking game" was really popular, where kids were choking themselves to feel a euphoric high and sadly some kids accidentally died and people often thought it was "intentional". See the link below that explains this: https://share.google/aimode/Uft4qBzzoqcBGPCCy The dangerous trend that gained significant attention around 2011–2012, where people—often children and teenagers—strangled themselves with ropes, belts, or their hands to experience a brief high, is known as "The Choking Game". While it has been around for decades, it was popularised during that period as a dangerous "game" or online "challenge". Key Details About the Trend: Other Names: It is also referred to as "Blackout," "Pass-out Game," "Space Monkey," "Flatliner," or "The Choking Challenge". The Mechanism: Participants restrict oxygen to the brain to achieve a short-lived euphoric, "dreaming" state. See more DB G @dbgreene Sep 15 Absolutely loved this series. Not sure what everyone else was seeing with the low ratings here but this was thought provoking and had me glued to it the entire time. What stayed with me was the fact that this principal was CLEARLY doing inappropriate touching with these students as the videos he recorded himself showed. At the very least he should be held accountable for that if not more. I started out feeling empathy for him thinking that the town just scapegoated him, but once he started telling his own story, that empathy slowly dwindled until the end. Well done docu-series!! See more Jennifer C @RT19732845 Aug 27 This was the most ignorant movie I’ve seen in a long time! Blaming hypnotherapy for the death of students!! It was absolutely disgusting and these kids in the “true crime documentary “ are just dumb. It blew my mind. All the principal was doing was basically visualizing with the students. I’ve known counseling practitioners who use hypnotherapy for clients. That is not what was happening there. I heard someone refer to the whole thing as a new satanic panic and that’s absolutely what it was. For the company who made this “true crime documentary” which is not what that was, get a life. There are so many things happening in the world that actually mean something. To make a “true crime documentary “ about this stupid ignorant crap was ridiculous. Did anyone in the whole thing consider that Marcus was suffering from injury from playing football? The “best friend” even talked about how much pain he was in all the time from the sport! There’s an idea for a documentary! How this teenager was encouraged to play football even though he was in so much pain he sought out hypnosis to help him tolerate it from day to day? There’s a “true crime documentary “. Negligence from adults who helped this boy who was obviously struggling with constant pain, continue to play football! How about perhaps he had multiple concussions from getting the crap kicked out of him all the time?????? What about depression in teen children? There’s an idea? How nothing was done to help those teenagers who took their lives? I can’t write anymore because I could go on for hours. This “true crime documentary “ was absolutely irresponsible and trash. See more Craig W. @CJWolfe27 Jul 22 Very thought provoking and interesting See more J M @RT94632434 Jul 8 I did enjoy watching this. Opinions were so divided. Plain and simple, do your job…nothing more. He thought hypnotizing was fun and enjoyed the attention, maybe even helping some of the kids. Problem is, this was NOT what he was paid or elected by the community to do. He was absolutely not qualified and is definitely at least partially liable for all 3 deaths. He taught them technics to do things they wouldn't normally have the “guts” or whatever you want to call it. He was messing with their minds. Very arrogant man! I dont care about any ones opinion on my review; This site asks for them and I gave mine. Such a very sad situation for 3 innocent souls gone way too soon. Wish theyd have gone to the school counselor instead.
