As with the original series, O’Clery also does a brilliant job of including the cast members’ parents and capturing the endless delight they get from their children. Marvellously, joyously human TV. Go to Full Review

Still, when most dating reality shows elicit eye-rolls and despair, this one will make you think about kindness, empathy and understanding – things we could all use more of at this time. Go to Full Review

Kathryn B @Kate19 01/11/2025 On the surface, the program seems to aim at fostering understanding and empathy, showcasing the unique perspectives autistic individuals bring to relationships. However, the way it's presented raises concerns. For instance, when a participant mentioned using pictures on his bedroom wall as a tool for initiating conversations, the interviewer’s follow-up—'Do you ever have people in your bedroom?'—seemed to spotlight his social challenges in a way that felt awkward and overly personal (his response was 'No' ). The scenes were also accompanied by music that appeared to accentuate the participants discomfort (a bit like the kind of music on amusing shows such as 'Come Dine With Me'), creating an impression that the show might be subtly mocking rather than empathising. The families and friends give the kind of performances that would win awards if it were fiction. Perhaps they have trouble reading social cues, but they wear their own hearts on their sleeves and we should all be a little more like them.
