Critic Reviews for Lupin Season 1
All Critics (22) | Top Critics (6) | Fresh (21) | Rotten (1)
The series also doesn't waste a single minute, packing each and every moment full of suspense. Put all of that together, and it's an early front-runner to steal a spot as one of the best shows of the year.
Lupin is an addictive, clever puzzle that combines elements from Luther, Sherlock Holmes, and Inside Man for an engrossing experience.
With Omar Sy playing a skillful Parisian thief whose crimes are meant to make wrongs right -- or at least draw a necessary measure of revenge -- Lupin is an engrossing house of tricks.
It's a magnificent concoction and, with an uncanny timing, it is captivating in a way that connects to the time we live in.
Thus far, it's admittedly uneven, bookended by a pair of great stories, with its middle three chapters feeling various degrees of extraneous. But by the time it gets to where it's going in chapter 5, the wait feels mostly worthwhile.
Old fashioned fun based on the 1902 novel by French writer Maurice Leblanc.
Basically, it exists at the precise midpoint between prestige TV and trashy nonsense. My only serious qualm is the lack of depth for supporting characters, especially women.
If you're into thievery, mystery, and an excellent slice-of-life drama, Lupin has it all with a plot twist that will keep you on the edge of your seat and eagerly wanting more at the very end.
The thing I like about Lupin is that someone steals Marie Antoinette's diamond necklace from The Louvre in the first episode.
Omar Sy... solidly embodies this Frenchman. [Full review in Spanish]
Omar Sy, however, is too charming to pass unnoticed-it helps that you want to be fooled...
The series seems as if it should be great fun, but it's actually a bit lackluster.
Audience Reviews for Lupin: Season 1
-
7h agoI liked it, Lupin is a bit too flawed of a "Lupin", but a very worthy watch
-
21h agoGreat little series that probably could have done with being more than 5 episodes. The Arsene Lupin story has been done many times for TV and Film over the years but this really does stand out giving it that modern day twist. If you love Paris, as I do, then you will almost certainly enjoy the scenery as much as the story. Look forward to season 2

21h agoWasn't expecting much but it surprised me. I have high expectations with French tv shows and this has fulfilled that. Slick show with great cast. Omar Sy is fantastic

Jan 23, 2021While the premise is good and the production is slick, the story is horribly written. Here is a guy who gets hired as a janitor in the most prestigious museum in the world and pulls off the heist of the century all in less than 2 weeks time. Gets himself imprisoned and erroneously released with ease and with no problem manipulates the entire prison system. Completely ridiculous storyline. Hard to watch without rolling your eyes about every 10 minutes.

1d agoFun and entertaining. Enjoyable to see Paris.
-
1d agoStunning series. Loved it. Wish we had more French Netflix television to watch.
-
2d agoThis is crime at its best. Gentlemen burglary
-
2d agoTo many plot holes, the story started good but then became a mess. How does a guy that know how to do deepfakes not know how to do a backup of videos, Security guards letting people in just becuse you call in and say " i work here, the guy who just entered is here to see me so let him in" and the guard is just like, okay seems legit. A guy arrested whit a gun and a stolen diamond gets released the same day just cuse he wasen´t the right guy?. I guess carrying weapons and stolen goods are now allowed in France.
-
2d agoIt's overall good but I can't shake a feeling that it could be better
-
3d agoLa serie es normal, puedes ver la serie para pasar el rato, pero le falta mas acción o drama
