MacGyver is an amazing television show!! Full of action packed nail biting moments with some comedy thrown in. The Phoenix team travels all over the globe to save the world. The episodes get better and better each season. The cast and crew give their A game each and every time. The new showrunner wants to take the show to even higher levels. You have to watch this show. You will not be disappointed!!

The 4th season is the worst season, thus far. The new characters are completely unlikeable. This storyline is all over the place. I'm six episodes in and I don't know what the hell is going on. I'm done with this series.

Con menos capítulos, la calidad de la serie hace que se pase un rato entretenido, como lo hacían las generaciones antiguas con el personaje original.

I used to love this show, but now they've gone full 80's predictable crap-fest of cliche's. A global terrorist organization that wants to destroy the world, have roots deeper than the dinosaurs, and are so wealthy and well connected that no one knows who they are. Lest we forget the topper of cliche's, the leader of said organization is MacGyver's dead aunt. Really? Show just a little originality when rein-visioning history, else we are doomed to repeat it. Like now. This kind of thing was fine in the 80's, but seriously, move on. Mullets are not fashionable anymore and neither is the path this show has found itself on.

Best season so far hope it continues like this

Amazing show, although I suspect it's starting to manifest the feminist 'bait and switch' that plagues all shows featuring male geniuses. They lure you in with a male genius protagonist doing lots of cool genius things and saving the day. Over the course of the series he becomes dumber and dumber doing less and less genius things as his female co stars do more and more Macgyvery things. Eventually a female antagonist appears that outshines the hero and defeats him by being smarter. In this case it's his mother. Voila! Iconic male genius destroyed. This has happened in Elementary, Sherlock and Psych to name a few.

This show has continued to go downhill. The latest iteration is the worst yet. Highly doubtful it will remain on the air.

Lucas Till is to MacGyver as Andrew Garfield was to Spider-Man. The smug and arrogant personality does not fit the character at all. It just doesn't work. But that's only the beginning of the problems with this show. Even if you can get over the actor and attempt to appreciate the nostalgia, you'll find that this is basically the generic serialized crime drama that makes up 99% of this genre of TV. They're terrified that if they don't give you a story to follow that you won't come back, and in the case of modern TV, it's probably true. Very little about this show will hold your interest if you're a classic MacGyver fan. It's ripe with overused tropes, like ridiculous hacking scenes, or the "XX hours/days earlier" opening. Little effort is put forth on production, banking on appealing to a younger generation, with some nostalgia sprinkled in to attract older viewers who have nothing better to do. Similar to other remakes, such as Hawaii Five-0, at times you're watching a glorified commercial for products. Gone is the handsome, intelligent man, out to help people both during and outside of his work at a think thank. Enter the smug action star, who is naturally a super secret spy, with an array of useless supporting characters who couldn't act their way out of a paper bag. Lucas Till himself is bad enough, but the line delivery by these characters in particular is sometimes laughably bad. You have to wonder who reviews this for release, to not only think that this is deserving of the MacGyver name, but even worth putting on TV. The visual effects alone will make you question where the budget went. MacGyver was a role model to countless young people, who would be inspired to go on to various S.T.E.M. careers, volunteer groups, or even law enforcement. This show is action schlock designed to fill time between commercials, when it's not being a commercial itself. Nobody is going to be inspired to be a better person by this show, no more than the writers were inspired when they created it. It's truly a shame that this continues to exemplify the reboot culture plaguing TV and movies, when it was entirely possible to take such a simple concept and turn it into another masterpiece.
