It's all just a matter of perspective who your hero is. "Marco Polo" knows it, and that's why season 2 works so well.

Pushing its hero sideways and making more of its Asian roots won't solve all of this drama's problems. But at least the signs are there now that Marco Polo might yet live up to its promise.

Still not a great series, Marco Polo continued to impress with its grandeur and scope and the production levels are still a big notch in the plus column.

Marco Polo season 2 has several moving parts to its plot, but the team of writers and directors prove once again that they can handle a show of this scale.

The potential for converts isn't even up for discussion as Marco Polo delves into its byzantine, stylish second season, which has just enough nifty set pieces and cool characters to compensate (barely) for a humdrum wartime plot.

Audience Reviews for Marco Polo: Season 2

A vast improvement over the first season with improved performances, focuses, and story-lines. The focus shifts from the awkwardly executed and written character of Marco to the vastly more interesting dynamics of the Mongol Empire. This allows the more talented of the cast to emerge, including of course the Great Khan itself.
