Annie's old flame lies in a coma, so Annie visits him at the hospital with Jake. Before long, Jake's voice miraculously awakens him and the two become fast friends, to Annie's chagrin. Meanwhile, Kay pens a young-adult vampire novel, which Dennah and Gil then send to a publisher.
