With any luck, the next time these heroes come together, they'll have a better villain to face and a stronger story. Despite those failings, The Defenders still delivers an enjoyable team up for these characters but it's clear it should have been better.

[It] starts off slow but takes the four genres from the solo series' and slowly blends them to make a unique team dynamic we haven't seen before in the Marvel Universe.

Some good fight scenes, though nothing on the level of some of the Daredevil stuff, and sadly some weak villains take it down a peg, but overall I really enjoyed myself.

The Defenders focuses on its heroes and villains, building piece by piece in a way that is consistently captivating.

When all four Defenders finally come together after the unnecessarily sluggish opening, a switch is flipped and the show becomes infectious fun.

It has a stronger narrative than one might expect, and 8 episodes is the perfect length for the superhero show.

There's so much they can do with this series, and I'm so excited to see where it goes next.

This first season goes by quickly, but there's something in it for all Marvel fans.

It's yet another series with not enough plot to fill the number of episodes it has, an oppressively dark aesthetic, and characters whose powers mostly amount to punching things really hard.

It's not an outright bad show, and there are some genuinely excellent moments, but the series does become less than the sum of its parts.

This all-punching, all-high-kicking extravaganza is what those solo shows have been building towards, the intimacy of Luke Cage, the first series of Daredevil, and Jessica Jones shoulder-barged aside to knot this universe in an NYC brawl pretzel.

Overall, fans should be pleased by the new miniseries and we'll all get to see how it ends come Aug. 18.

I'd argue that by the end every single character finds themselves in a, if not better place, but a more interesting one than where they started.

There's a reason the series' best moments feature the group sitting around talking, not fighting.

The Defenders, despite the unnecessary grimness in its tone, over-stuffed storylines, and generic villains, winds up being better than it had any reason to be, due largely to a cast that should work together more often but probably won't.

Ramirez and his team do just enough to pull it off, and while the end result isn't necessarily as marvelous as the Marvel films, it's still mightily impressive.

For the most part, The Defenders works. It's easy to digest entertainment, the quips are fast, the action is mostly competent.

Watching Netflix's "The Defenders" is like being reunited with a group of old friends and then realizing you only want to hang out with one or two of them.

No, the plot is not particularly complex... but the show shines every time it shows the four heroes interacting with each other, or getting involved in martial arts fights. [Full review in Spanish]

Watching Jessica [Jones] point out the bigger logic gaps of The Defenders isn't exactly helping the series.
