Marvel's Inhumans

Critics Consensus

Marvel's Inhumans sets a new low standard for the MCU with an unimaginative narrative, dull design work, weak characters, and disengaging soapy melodrama.

To make something from a Marvel concept this blithely, wonderfully and resolutely weird demands time and budget and -- maybe most of all -- commitment, and none of those three things showed up to set.

Despite special effects up the wazoo, it's utterly devoid of magic or wonder.

Well, at least Iwan Rheon is back where he belongs.

Inhumans is legitimately the worst Marvel adaptation of the year (yes, even beating out Iron Fist). In fact, as far as terrible Marvel adaptations go, you might have to go all the way back to Roger Corman's unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four film to best it.

[It's a] dull [slog] overall.

It has hopeful and even good points, but these derive more from the use of the "magical Marvel makeup" that surrounds all its series and movies, than from the quality of the production itself. [Full Review in Spanish]

Really dull, has the feel of a cheap 90s TV show and has a cast of characters that are somehow less charismatic and interesting than the mute emotionless leader they follow.

While Inhumans had some rocky points (what pilot doesn't?), there were beautiful moments that make me want to continue watching.

Finally and sadly, Inhumans lacks what all great superhero renditions must have: heart.

Jun 26, 2018 | Full Review…

Perhaps, if nothing else, the disaster that is the pilot of ABC's Marvel's Inhumans will dissuade network executives from the out-of-control trend of superhero shows. Inhumans is by far the worst yet.

The Inhumans have special powers, which makes them even more unique. [Full review in Spanish]

For Marvel completists only, Inhumans is - as many had anticipated - the weakest entry in the MCU to date, across screens big and small.

Audience Reviews for Marvel's Inhumans: Season 1

Marvel's Inhumans could have been really great, but it really, REALLY isn't. I'm not really sure where to start, but it is all lacking. At best, it felt like a Saturday morning show from the early nineties. The script is maybe the worst part - it felt like a rough draft placeholder that somebody forgot to go back and rewrite. Attilan is just hokey and everything looks like it was made my a poor community theatre troupe: the sets are lame, the costumes are ridiculous, and the wigs are awful. Maximus, the villain is just another spoiled white boy expecting all the things he thinks he deserves and acting out. I spent more time horrified by the villain's pubic hair-like beard and wooden acting than worrying if he'd prevail. Maybe the acting wouldn't seem as bad if the script wasn't so ridiculous, and some the characters do start to come into their own as the short series drags on, it's not enough to save the show... or Attilan. Also, there's no way Agent Coulson is letting any of this happen unsupervised.

I can tell you what happened in a few words, and you wouldn't have missed anything. Maximus wants to kill his brother so he can become king, But His brother traps him on the moon.

it's ew, but in some parts okay

Marvel's Inhumans isn't a perfect series and isn't the best of MCU, but has a very nice pace between episodes, great action scenes, excellent visual effects, beautiful production design and good performances by Anson Mount, Serinda Swan, Ken Leung, Eme Ikwuakor, Isabelle Cornish, Ellen Woglom and Iwan Rheon

I knew this wasn't going to go well when i was agreeing with the villian. The good guys are snobby and boring. Setswana and clothes look cheap. I was exited before watching and was majorly let down.

Inhumans is by far the worst thing to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe considering the show's cringeworthy character writing, poorly conceived story development, mediocre visuals, and lackluster entertainment value. How on Earth did this series make it to the theaters in any shape or form out of all of the MCU connected properties is beyond me.

Inhumans plagiarizes Thor in everything except the ending. That plagiarizes Thor: Ragnarok's ending

I personally loved the show, it has great potential!

I think the only reason this has low ratings on review websites is that what they promised to the fans. They promised a high budget show for a huge comic series to be produced into a TV show. Like Game of Thrones level budget. And they didn't get it and above that, It looks very low budget. Everything is ok but I am going to address mishaps or advantages through out the show. The great thing in my eyes is Lockjaws, his animation is good but it would be bad for a Movie though. And I think making Lockjaw irrelevant to story through most of the show is good because how powerful he is, comics and the show. One problem is that there were too many separate stories going between them each one of them and I would lose interest. It also seemed lazy as if they wanted the main heroes to lose their abilities - because of special effects. They said this was going to be mad. The only good actors or actresses in the show was probably Isabelle Cornish and Iwan Rheon. But Iwan Rheon, no offense to him, but he looks scary - and that helps him with his acting roles. I would recommend but I would recommend this as a 12 for bad language, violence. Grade: C-
