Season 1
Marvel's Hit-Monkey

Critics Consensus

If Marvel's Hit-Monkey is never as thrillingly original as its title might suggest, vibrant animation and a solid voice cast keep things consistently watchable.

I came in for Ted Lasso and his Mad Violent Monkey in a suit. I was not disappointed. No Monkey Business here!

Writing and action were solid. I enjoyed the premise, and even if the content tended to sometimes be a little trope-y, THAT WAS THE POINT. Made me laugh out loud at least twice, which never happens anymore. Two big thumbs up.

Decent animation. Horrible everything else. Very cheesy dialogue that seems like nothing but one liners that no one would ever say thrown together. Sudeikis rushes through his bad lines so fast and so monotonously flat it's almost headache inducing, and his character is constantly talking. It works for Deadpool bc Ryan Reynolds is charming - Sudeikis has the emotive range of a toaster and after about two episodes it was grating. The shows plot and execution are just... bleh. I wasn't really looking forward to this one, but it was vastly worse than I expected.

Reminiscent of both Archer and Cowboy Bebop. Well worth a watch.

It's basically Afro Samurai but with lesser animation and battle sequences, but more comedy.

Hit-Monkey made a lot of efforts to be this out of place revenge story and still having some emotional weight. Does it succeed? Not really, it is a lot to take... the pace and the lore are all over the place but damn it is far to be boring! The final is such a ride, this show knows how to deliver entertainment. The jokes work well but they are mostly delivers by this annoying talkative clone of Archer, Bryce. He is a fun character that really helps to shape the show personality but he is taking non-stop and once you made the comparison with the funnier Archer is a little harder to like him. The art is something to get used to. Some characters feel like their come from two different cartoon and the animation is kind of stiff until it is (a few times) unsettlingly smooth.

    Needs a littler more humor

The episodes move along at a breakneck pace handling the wacky concept with impressive execution. The writing, music, voice acting and animation are firing on all cylinders. The latter being the most impressive. There's a constant mix of 2D characters with 3D backgrounds allows for the type of kinetic action absent from most 2D animated fare. It's fun, violent, and at times touching. Sudeikis is channeling his inner Archer here and should be commended for doing a lot of the heavy lifting for the show. Considering his sole chatter fills most scenes (his partner is a monkey after all) he somehow manages to be consistently funny and quite likable. Here's hoping Marvel gives it a season 2, cuz I really wanna see where this thing goes.

Okay i was Benning to enjoy this only when i found out that the structure of this was flawed, but gosh it was so good that i finished it in a day it kept me wanting more like f*ck couldn't keep away until i finished it, so yeah the minor disappointments shouldn't stop you from enjoying this work of a mind that drove off this world and brought you hit monkey.

This is my favorite marvel thing to come out since Infinity War. This show was SO much fun. They need to make a sequal!
