A chronicle of the life of one of the darker Marvel characters, the mysterious Jessica Jones. When a tragedy puts an end to her short-lived career as a superhero, Jessica settles in New York City and opens her own detective agency, called Alias Investigations, which seems to be called into cases involving people who have special abilities. Suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome, Jessica wants to do good, but her primary interest isn't in saving the world, it's saving her apartment and getting through each day. Based on a graphic novel intended for adults, this is not a superhero story for the kids.

It's not a perfect show -- but it's solid, and it's really important. Go to Full Review

Eschewing the popcorn entertainment approach taken with most of the films (Captain America: The Winter Soldier notwithstanding), this is an up close look at the dark side of superheroics. Go to Full Review

One thing is certain: Jessica Jones has proved a game-changer when it comes to super-heroes, anti-heroes and survivor narratives. The rest of the industry will need to up its game accordingly. Go to Full Review

I liked the new Netflix series Jessica Jones-but while watching it, I was plagued by one nagging question. Why didn't Jessica Jones, or somebody, ask Iron Man to take out Killgrave? Go to Full Review

There's something about Jessica Jones, played expertly on Netflix by Krysten Ritter, that makes me want to get up and shout, "Hell yes!" Go to Full Review

John Cristian L @Jhaiian Jan 18 Jessica Jones Season 1 has a strong premise, a great villain, and a solid lead, but the pacing seriously drags it down. It feels like the writers were trying way too hard to stretch the story into 13 episodes when it clearly didn’t need that many. The middle episodes crawl, repeating the same beats instead of moving the plot forward. Honestly, this would’ve worked far better as a movie. Cut the filler, tighten the story, and it easily becomes a 4-star experience. As a series, it just overstays its welcome. Jessica herself doesn’t help either—some of her decisions are straight-up dumb and only make the pacing slower. It’s less character depth and more unnecessary delay. Good ideas, poor execution. Three stars. See more Paul H Jan 10 This is a top 5 Marvel series, Kilgrave is seriously evil, telling people to put their arm in a blender and turn it on which they do stands out. Ritter is brilliant. See more SiddhanthRoyal @SidRoyal Dec 15 Entertaining and how twisty the story gets is amazing to watch, gets into a lot of philosophy of life and liked the overall characters of the story. See more Ed R @JustcallmeER Nov 12 One of the worst Marvel shows to date. See more Kyle R. @VanKyleder Sep 15 Perhaps I shouldn’t have watched Daredevil S1 so closely to this because I can’t help but make comparisons. I think Fisk is a bit more compelling of a villain than Kilgrave as far as childhood trauma gone wrong goes. Still loved the noir vibe and Krysten Ritter is great. See more Jim C @JCarls Aug 31 On top of the marvelous acting by Ritter and company and the authentically noirish tone, the first season's villain is one of the most disturbing in the genre. That isn't because he is some purple alien who can snap his finger to end half the universe, it is because he is a purple-wearing dude who represents what too many people, mostly women, have experienced IN REAL LIFE: a predatory, manipulative narcissist who victimizes other people. That season earns its catharsis honestly. See more Read all reviews
