A chronicle of the life of one of the darker Marvel characters, the mysterious Jessica Jones. When a tragedy puts an end to her short-lived career as a superhero, Jessica settles in New York City and opens her own detective agency, called Alias Investigations, which seems to be called into cases involving people who have special abilities. Suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome, Jessica wants to do good, but her primary interest isn't in saving the world, it's saving her apartment and getting through each day. Based on a graphic novel intended for adults, this is not a superhero story for the kids.

Critics Consensus

While Jessica Jones is a slower burn with less focus than its inaugural season, its enticing new character arc more fully details the most charismatic Defender.

Though this season of Jessica Jones was directed entirely by women, it continues a harmful trend of resting its feminist heroism on the backs of the people of color. And perhaps, that is Jessica Jones's greatest downfall. Go to Full Review

Rosenberg works closely with Krysten Ritter, who plays Jessica, to balance the show's dark drama with snarky jokes. Go to Full Review

I loved the second season, and I think it was cleverly written, well crafted, beautifully acted, and visually stunning. But I don't think any villain will ever be as scary to me as Kilgrave. Go to Full Review

Fantastic character development keeps the show afloat, and Jessica continues to pave the way forward for realistic female heroes in spite of the season's general lack of direction. Go to Full Review

Jessica Jones returns with an interesting story that must be developed gradually, but that gives you a good fifty minutes per episode. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

SiddhanthRoyal @SidRoyal Dec 15 Just feels like netflix had their rights to develop another season after amazing season 1. It's a complete misfire, like in the end there is a major death and Jessica just moves on from it , just like that?! Make it make sense... please...! See more Fernando C @FernandoConti Aug 25 Don't watch season 2 if you liked season 1. They might seem related but there's no story and no soul. Everything that made season 1 great is gone, even though the cast and crew do their best with what's written. It's incredible there's even a 3rd season, which apparently is even worse, but I'm not going to check it out. Fast-forwarding through season 2 was more than enough. See more Lenny Jun 27 I love it all, it's amazing See more James J @JamesAMC May 18 Jessica Jones Seasons is a sanctimonious, unwatchable trainwreck that makes foot-binding cloth look like a tweet. After the raw, unapologetic brilliance of The Punisher and Daredevil, this is a steaming pile of super garbage! Melissa Rosenberg’s delusional, self-righteous script pretends it’s profound while torching every character, especially Trish Walker. Jessica, a smug, hypocritical fake hero, struts around on her moral high horse, getting her mom, Alisa, and adoptive mom, Dorothy, killed through her inaction. Then, she betrays her sister, Trish, condemning her for fighting a psycho like Sallinger. Trish, scarred by a childhood under her abusive mom’s iron grip and years of powerlessness, becomes a vigilante to stop untouchable monsters. Yet, Rosenberg’s brain-dead writing reduces her to a cartoon villain, chained in the Raft like a comic-book reject, forced to choke out a “bad guy” confession. Jessica’s sanctimonious cowardice—forgiving killers like Kilgrave but dooming her own family—makes The Last of Us Part II’s preaching look subtle. She ignores Trish’s agony: her mom’s brutal murder, the torturous experiments for powers, her lifelong fight against helplessness. Rosenberg’s smug “power corrupts” drivel insults our intelligence, turning Trish’s comic-book Hellcat potential into a pathetic punchline. Punisher’s Frank Castle kills with purpose and gets a pass; Daredevil’s Matt Murdock bends rules with nuance; Luke Cage embraces gritty heroism. But Jessica Jones just lectures, with Jessica playing saint while stabbing Trish in the back. Save your time—this infuriating, pretentious garbage isn’t worth your Netflix subscription. Zero stars for Rosenberg’s sanctimonious, intelligence-insulting flop! See more Vasqu3z V @JuliV Apr 21 More personal, more of Jessicas Backstory. I liked it although i wondered what a horrible person and mother Alisa is.. despite having these side effects from the surgeries on her. Jeri's arc seemed a bit out of place but it was interesting. Surprising and emotional Ending. There was one big Plothole that never got explained or was just forgotten. Me gustó el desarrollo de cada uno de los personajes que salen en la serie y pues ese final fue algo que no me lo esperaba. Jessica Jones me sorprendió en esta temporada. See more Read all reviews
