Cookery competition with John Torode and Gregg Wallace. Five amateur chefs compete for a place in the MasterChef quarter-finals. First, they must cook an exceptional dish completely from scratch in just one hour in the invention test, then they must face the tricky palate test. This new challenge sees Chef John Torode demonstrate pappardelle with meatballs and tomato sauce, which the competitors must recreate without the recipe in just one hour - with only their sense of smell and their palates to guide them. Two contestants will be sent home after these two challenges, with the remaining three thrown into a busy lunchtime service at London's One-O-One restaurant to test their skills in a professional environment. Finally, they face the final test of the heat, cooking their own two brilliant courses to impress John and Gregg.
