Critic Reviews for Mayans M.C. Season 1

Mayans MC, which almost assuredly will get considerable mileage, is another victims-of-circumstances undertaking in which degrees of badness are the accepted norms.

After almost two hours of Mayans M.C., I still miss the Tellers, and I'm worried I will at the end of the season, too.

Already been here, done this. I am exhausted.

[Mayans M.C.] the sequel is far from a careless follow-up; it's a deliberate expansion that's at least within spitting distance of "SOA" quality.

This is a cocktail sure to go down smoothly with Sons of Anarchy fans, but first-timers may have found the first episode an acquired taste, especially as the gore cranked up several gears halfway through.

Sutter has taken a stab into the underbelly of not just biker criminal culture but the demographic and culture wars blazing across America right now.

Mayans MC concludes its first season the way it began - big and bold.

Nov 7, 2018 | Rating: 8.9/10 | Full Review…

This is not an ethnically flipped version of Kurt Sutter's biker epic but it doesn't quite deliver on a story that will put those fears to rest. There is a lot of potential for Mayans MC to distinguish itself, but it has a long way to go.

Sons [of Anarchy] fans should embrace Mayans M.C. as an exciting new chapter. There's clearly talent on board, and the ensemble looks promising.

Oct 10, 2018 | Rating: 3/4 | Full Review…

When a cliffhanger like the one Mayans M.C. ended on this week so perfectly sets up a new villain while giving fans of an original series an Easter egg they can appreciate, there's just no room for hate.

Oct 10, 2018 | Full Review…

Mayans M.C. may yet turn things around and add a few much-needed layers to this tale. But it should do so quickly because while viewers might come for the blood and brutality, they will stay for the intrigue and relationships.

There's no one to root for and nothing to connect to so it's hard to get excited. Who needs to watch grown men playing medieval war in California?

Audience Reviews for Mayans M.C.: Season 1

Mayans M.C. is marvelous and action-packed!

As always audience score is more precise than critic ratings. This TV show has ties with "Sons of Anarchy" TV show which was a beautiful masterpiece. Sadly, I can't say same about this TV show. It's totally opposite - very dull, boring and slow. It's hard to believe that both TV shows were created from the same creator.

The cast is competent. The production quality is a cut above most shows. The only problem is with this first season. Sons of Anarchy had personal drama first and plot second. The result was you fell in love with the characters first which made you find the plot all the more intriguing. Mayan's MC jumps straight into the plot. You don't really get a sense of who the characters are before you know what the season's plot is going to be. The result is it takes you longer to really fell invested in the outcome of the situations they get into. It's worth the wait though. This is a great show, it just jumped the gun a little. Stick with it and you will be rewarded.

the first season at first seemed to me, a SOA fan a little of a mock up. like they really tried to do it in the sons way but it didn't work so much. still, very enjoyable and interesting. season 2 is by far better.

One of the best shows ever, had me from the beginning, Bishop and the club, the brothers, EZ with his moral dilemmas, Miguel who is the most likable antagonist ever, Felipe, always thinking before speaking, the struggling Kevin, who in my opinion is a hell of an actor, and of course the outstanding performance of Richard Cabral as the utmost likable Coco. I love this show.

Exciting to watch! The outlaw Motorcycle Mayan gang loyal to the Tellers-Sons of Anarchy mixed with the Mexican Cartel and the Feds, what else can you ask for. The epitome of loyalty and brotherhood. Great characters and the machination behind the plot will glue you to the program.

actually this kind of spinoff totally kills off audience real imagination of there favourite show. down it
  • May 21, 2019

Love this show. Has Drama, mystery, sex violence. Loyalty. A great plot with twists.
  • Feb 04, 2019
Covers topics rarely given an airing. Violent nature of current living conditions in border regions graphic and heart rending at same time. Brilliant understanding of emotional state of the underdog
