Neurosurgeon Rowan Fielding has a problem. When she gets mad, she kills with her mind. Her search for answers sends her to New Orleans, home to her biological family and the spirit Lasher who has haunted them for generations. Ciprien (Sip) Grieve, a devoted agent to the Talamasca, is assigned to protect Rowan. He soon realizes he's in way over his head as secrets are revealed that could tarnish Rowan's family and his role in the Talamasca. As Lasher's seduction of Rowan deepens her role in an ancient prophecy becomes clear. This prophecy culminates in the birth of Lasher. Rowan is determined to use Lasher's powers to fulfill her purpose as a healer, but when tragedy strikes, she must put aside her own desires and fight to save her family. This proves to be a challenge as Sip and the Talamasca are also hell-bent on capturing Lasher. The battle to control him ultimately leads back to Donnelaith, the ancient stronghold of the Mayfair family.

The show’s first season lacked for storytelling gravity. The new season doubles down -- crazy twists occur at an ever-growing clip, seemingly outside the narrative’s internal logic. Go to Full Review

We still like watching Daddario, there’s a lot about Mayfair Witches that we find exhausting to watch, because there are too many characters to keep track of and not enough story to service them all. Go to Full Review

While this new season of Mayfair Witches takes its time gaining traction, it eventually builds to a satisfying crescendo – for those with the patience (and stomach) for it. Go to Full Review

After setting up a strong foundation in the first season, Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches season 2 is sultry, sexy and scary as hell Go to Full Review

Unfortunately, however, Mayfair Witches stumbles badly in its second season, abandoning any cohesive focus on the family at its center and counting on its breakneck pace and seemingly endless bonkers plot twists. Go to Full Review

I have no doubt that a third season is still on the way, which hopefully can do away with being beholden to the source material and expanding this story in a new direction. Go to Full Review

Chris B @kristoffer Dec 9 Anything from the mind of Anne Rice is pure gold. A gothic delight. See more Ren F Nov 26 Great show I cannot wait for more from this universe! I love Mayfair witches!! Ann Rice is great. I hope they do more of this series and they do the Mayfair witches in detail! All of the witches in the story throughout history were please!!!! See more MB C @MB.Cinema Nov 15 Season 2 dives deeper into the dark mythology of the Mayfair legacy, following Rowan as she battles rising power, moral collapse, and the terrifying human form of Lasher.....The season expands the world with bolder visuals and richer lore, yet struggles with uneven pacing and scattered storytelling.....Rowan remains the strongest element complex, unstable, and torn between desire and dread....Julien’s arrival adds real mythic weight, even as other characters fade into thin, underwritten roles....The Rowan Lasher dynamic aims for toxic tension but often slips into melodrama, dulling the season’s darker edges... A visually striking but uneven chapter ambitious, messy, and compelling enough to keep the magic alive..... See more Sidny P @Sid214 Aug 1 It’s hands down one of the best fantasy series out See more C S Jun 18 I did not read the books, so skip this is you're a huge fan (I know people are very opinionated lol). But it's much better than last season for me. Better acting because the screenplay was so much better. Especially the special effects. Last season, they tried to do "cool" special effects, but it looked so cheesy and cheap, which made the acting corny. This season, they seemed to find the sweet spot and the characters really developed well. I also liked the new characters. I just finished, and it was a really fun! See more Claude G Jun 3 My Season 1 review mirrors Season 2 in some ways. The show is taking a whole new direction which isn't at all in parallel with the books. This show in general isn't as good as Interview with the Vampire, but it is intriguing nevertheless. However, intriguing is one thing, but I don't like it as much as Season 1 and more importantly, I find that it is often inconsistent at times, nevermind that it doesn't follow the source material except in a most "loose" manner. Those inconsistencies tend to distract viewers like me. Anyways, a rating of 3.5 is the best I can muster. I hope Season 3 will be better in 2026. For now, the next show from Anne Rice Immortal Universe will be "Talamasca". This is coming in 2025. There are no Anne Rice books on the Talamasca that stands on its own. The history of the Talamasca is spread throughout many of Anne Rice's Vampire and Witches books in context with each book and the characters being referenced. That might be a good thing for the show. If it's done right, it might and should crossover at times with characters from both Vampires and Witches shows. Who knows... See more Read all reviews
