The fourth season of this paranormal drama finds Allison (Patricia Arquette) dealing with the consequences of having her psychic abilities exposed to the public: She's banished from her job at the DA's office and her relationship with Scanlon (David Cubitt) deteriorates, so she works with private investigator Cynthia Keener (Angelica Huston) instead. Eventually, Allison's visions shed light on a troubling part of Cynthia's past. A troubling thing happens to Allison when a young deaf girl gets kidnapped: Allison loses her hearing. Meanwhile, Joe (Jake Weber) looks for a new job; and his mother (Kathy Baker) comes for a visit and reveals a secret to Allison, who struggles with keeping the secret from Joe.

If these two episodes are bellwethers for the rest of the Medium Season, then I can't wait for the rest. Medium is one of the few quality shows out there and the more of it we get, the better off we will be.
