Based on the crime-novel series by author Caroline Graham, "Midsomer Murders" follows the efforts of Detective Chief Inspector John Barnaby to solve crimes that occur in the wealthy, isolated English county of Midsomer, a picturesque and peaceful place on the outside but one filled with amoral and snobbish eccentrics with all kinds of vices. His latest assistant is Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter. DCI Barnaby took over in series 14, replacing his older cousin, Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby, who retired.

Edward L @Glyndower Feb 23 This season takes a downturn with the introduction of DS Scott, Troy's replacement. His slimy arrogance I presume is meant to introduce an element of edge to the series but only results in him appearing as a deeply unpleasant individual. Happily he only lasts for two seasons. Cully Barnaby is also transformed into the Midsomer Slapper with a different man each week and the storylines become increasingly bizarre, culminating in a reboot of 'The Wicker Man'.
