What to Know

Critics Consensus

The rapport between Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson is the irresistible centerfold of Minx, a bawdy and sharp comedy that merits a full-page spread.

Showrunner Ellen Rapoport keeps “Minx” oddly breezy, rah-rah and incredibly safe. That is enough to keep viewers entertained.... But the subtext is white fantasy and innovation. Go to Full Review

Minx, the publication, is politics dressed up as fun. “Minx,” the show, is fun that barely bothers to dress up as politics—at least at first. But what it really cares about are its characters... Go to Full Review

The series, starring Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson, is patient and accurate in the portrayal of the reception of the feminist movement across socio-economic groups. Go to Full Review

I loved that this was written in a realistic way, and eventually - for me it took a bit too long - but I liked that Joyce was challenged on her lack of dimension in her feminism. Go to Full Review

My frustration was growing because at the end of the day, if you want to be a good person, if you want to be for women if you want to be for other people, just be for other people. It doesn't need to be layered and nuanced. Go to Full Review

alisa F. @iLoveMoviies Jan 27 Magnificent series. The characters are well written and fun. The directing is enjoyable to watch. Costumes portray the 70s perfectly. Great writing, never a dull moment in this show. Definitely for a mature audience due to nudity See more Alyce A @alynorton Jan 6 So good! I mean, don’t watch it with your kids or any virgins, but I really loved this show. It’s witty and fun. And the penises will give ya a good Chuckle. See more Steve J @Steve2112 Dec 17 Great show. Well written. Funny and thoughtful. The negative audience reviews seem mostly from people offended by seeing lots of penises. Which is kind of funny given the themes of the show. See more Frank C @OhHeyFrank Dec 8 Funny and thoughtful, and I love that there are so many dicks. The amount of zero and one star audience reviews shows that people are still not ready to see dicks (especially decent sized ones), and that sex and nudity can be a serious emotional dealbreaker for some poor souls. I love the show, sometimes the characters can be frustrating, but they are believable, and the social commentary is appropriate See more Gregory G. @gageorge Nov 26 A very unique story with creative writing and great acting! I wish there were more seasons. See more Unclear D @Rumsbottom 03/22/2025 Loved it, a breath of fresh air. After so many years of being mystified by hearing how women don't want to look at mens bodies, someone finally called bulls**t. Feels liberating to watch this. There's still the obligatory scenes sexually exploiting women, with more naked women than I wanted to see, but only a few, so better than most TV. It's funny, great characters, loads going on. It's different to anything I've seen before or since. Doesn't feel clichéd unlike pretty much everything else on TV. Really good fun while still showing interesting political, historical and sociological themes. It's not intellectually patronising to the audience. Great all round. A shame, but not in the least surprising, it got cancelled. Had lots of potential for a new series with a few storylines set up, would have liked to see where they led. See more Read all reviews
