Five juvenile offenders with nothing in common find themselves working together on a community service project, and their differing personalities soon cause sparks to fly. But that's nothing compared to what happens when a freak electrical storm hits town. Shortly thereafter, they find that they are developing superpowers. Paranoid Kelly can now hear the thoughts of others, while Simon, who has always been overlooked, can suddenly make himself invisible. Curtis can turn back time, while Alisha finds that anyone who touches her will lust after her. Nathan, to his chagrin, seems to have suffered no aftereffects of the storm. Now, on top of dealing with the realities of teenage life and finishing their service project, they must figure out how to handle their new abilities and find out just what, if anything, they are expected to do with them.

Critics Consensus

A cast overhaul is always a potentially disastrous move for any show, but season three of Misfits pulls it off with aplomb.

The show has continued to juggle an ever increasing number of characters and complex narratives within a superpower world, while remaining fun. Go to Full Review

Well, it was new powers all round - courtesy of Seth, sinister giver of power - with gormless chavgirl Kelly (the excellent Lauren Socha) now fully skilled up as a rocket scientist and Curtis able to turn into a polite young woman. Go to Full Review

It's superpowers used to make exposition easy, and it works. Go to Full Review

It was an entertaining episode, but an inauspicious beginning to a series I've always loved. Hopefully the writers have got a few tricks up their sleeves. Go to Full Review

Nathan's departure could have signaled the death knell for Misfits... But in one majestically mad-cap pre-title sequence he almost makes us forget Nathan was ever around, so strong is Rudy's introduction. Go to Full Review

Gilguna's showboating Rudy pushed the tone a little closer to Shameless than Heroes but it may well turn out to be a canny move. Go to Full Review

01/25/2022 They replaced Robert Sheehan who played Nathan with Joe Gilgun who played Rudy. I think Joe is a great actor but replacing Nathan with Rudy was sad and a bad decision by the show runners, The beginning of the end See more waleed a @RT10200069 01/10/2017 the first half was pretty awesome with some great episodes. then it nose-dove. last few episodes i was wondering why i was still watching (2 viewings) See more 08/11/2016 Misfits returns once again with a powerful third season filled all throughout with smart writing, a quircky presentation, faithful acting and a creatively fulfillment of the show's own mythology -- and marvelously delivers the best and most compelling season finale the show has produced thus far. See more 06/25/2015 Leading character Nathan has departed after two seasons, and is replaced with newcomer Rudy. This initially doesn't work out to great, but after the writers stopped just giving Rudy the lines they would have given to Nathan were he still on the show, and instead start building him as his own character, the season gets into stride and is better for it.
