Rainbow Johnson recounts her experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the '80s and the constant dilemmas she and the family members had to face over whether to assimilate or stay true to themselves. Bow's parents, Paul and Alicia, decide to move from a hippie commune to the suburbs to better provide for their family. As her parents struggle with the challenges of their new life, Bow and her siblings navigate a mainstream school in which they're perceived as neither black nor white. The family's experiences illuminate the challenges of finding one's own identity when the rest of the world can't decide where you belong.

06/01/2021 Another good season...plenty of laughs. See more 03/02/2021 While I actually enjoyed watching Mixedish, the season 2 premiere upset me. I felt VERY offended that the producer, creator, writers (whoever), felt it was okay to disregard the word "beaner", while trying to focus on educating us on the importance of accepting who you are, I literally waited to see if the OFFENSIVE word would be explained as being JUST AS OFFENSIVE to Mexicans as it N-word would be to African Americans, but the show literally had their cast side step the word because it was not the N-word. Are you kidding me???? So, no other offensive ethnic or cultural word matters???? And told suggest and that Mexicans have it easier because they're not African American, is also a stereotype as well as ignorant. Did you stop to think how Mexicans would feel, watching this episode? Wow! Disgusted. I'm sorry to those offended by the season 2 episode 1 premiere of Mixedish. So sad how IGNORANT many can be. See more Read all reviews
