This futuristic sci-fi anime works well as a character drama but suffers from weak plot development. Go to Full Review

Visually, everything [in Moonrise] is perfect (...) However, if your storytelling is not only keeping me from enjoying the animation but also tiring my mind, then that’s a problem I can’t just ignore. Go to Full Review

Lexel T @RT80904841 Jun 25 The show has interesting, original concepts and great animation. Sadly it is held back by some questionable writing choices, weird pacing at times, confusing time skips and an unsatisfying ending. See more Bill T @RT32919452 06/12/2025 This show is so good. The animation is incredible and the premise is worth checking out. However, the ending could have been written better and the time skips made it confusing. But despite that you should definitely watch until at least episode 6 (PEAK) that episode slapped. See more Penny M @RT31365719 05/30/2025 loved the animation in Moonrise — it felt like watching an 18-episode movie! The visuals are stunning, and the soundtrack was equally beautiful. From the very first frame, I was immediately pulled in. You can really see the hard work behind every detail — the lighting, the environments, and especially the fight scenes, which are choreographed so well they leave you breathless. At first glance, you might think it’s just another “pretty art anime,” but Moonrise actually tells a powerful and emotional story. It stands out among most sci-fi anime by exploring deep, relatable themes grounded in everyday life — grief, connection, sacrifice — and it doesn't shy away from showing the emotional cost of war and survival. While we often expect stories to have clean, closed-ended plots, Moonrise takes a more realistic approach. The ending may not be what we typically hope for, but it reflects what often happens in real life — and that makes it linger even more. However i also do understand that this had the potential to build a bigger world building See more Alessandro A @RT14928326 05/28/2025 Animation in good but the story doesn't make sense. Probably they expect us to watch an entire season before understanding what is going on. The result is that it gets boring, you need to better balance what is left unsaid with the storyline otherwise it becomes too confusing. See more Julian B @RT55258406 05/13/2025 I have never seen a show that interest me so much. It’s brought out so many twist and turns. And I have come to think that I want to watch this show more and more, just because of the scenery and the plots and characters. To finish off what had led the group so far. We can’t just be left on some kind of cliff hanger, because that’s completely absurd. See more Tom M @RT19268799 05/07/2025 Aimation is good. Action is fun. The story is poor. They try to use too may jumps in time to justify things- hell in between 2 episodes we fast forward an entire year- why? No idea. But in reality there is too much story missing to make the story fluid. 18 episodes could have been about 6 in total and it wold be tighter, but still the story would be meh. Most character choices aren't logical or justified. Personally I say skip this and find something that has taken the time to make you want to invest your time into it. You get to the end of this series and you wonder why you bothered. Especially as it's obvious there won't be second series. See more Read all reviews
