Anchored by Toby Jones’ heartbreakingly stoic performance, Gwyneth Hughes’ drama recreates the staggering injustice that began in the early 2000s. Go to Full Review

Despite taking certain licenses and a proclivity for melodrama, "Mr. Bates vs The Post Office" establishes itself as one of the essential miniseries of 2024. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

In some ways it’s hard to believe the extent of the miscarriage of justice in Mr. Bates vs. the Post Office, but in other ways, this true story will feel all too familiar. Go to Full Review

Dane B. M Jul 18 I stumbled on this while watching Toby Jones on The Graham Norton Show, and I’m so glad I did—because everyone needs to see it. I found myself shouting at my television screen, "Stop bullying these people!" What an utterly horrific lifetime of suffering these innocent people were subjected to. And STILL they haven’t been compensated. This wasn’t man vs. machine. This was human beings blindly embracing technology—believing it infallible—while destroying the lives of those who dared to question it. Watch it and see the cold, bureaucratic inhumanity for what it is: Not a glitch. Not a misunderstanding. But a calculated betrayal. Shame on every institution that let this happen. And shame on every one that continues to stall justice. See more Marcus J May 30 Wicked smart man against the machine story. See more Ashley N @technorainbows Mar 13 This show is really well done, but also this show is about an extremely depressing/abhorrent thing that actually happened and is done in way feels very accurate and like a documentary. I found it hard to keep watching after about half-way through the season because I just felt bored and depressed as the episodes went along. I'd rather learn about this horrible thing that happened by reading an investigated journal article. Or watching a much shorter show. It felt like the show's desire to be factual meant they ended up slogging through every single little thing that happened, which really starts to wear on you... See more Andrei D 01/01/2025 A little pedestrian but very solidly acted and true to the events See more Stuart B 09/06/2024 The screenplay was great. The cast was superb. I wish that I could say that the actual story was remarkable, but I can't. Stories like this happen every day. But but Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office does unveil how there is justice in our society mainly for those with endlessly deep pockets who are willing to use the most devious tricks of their fabulously paid lawyers to do an end run around the law, what is morally correct, and, in the end, to just plain do the right thing. I most heartily recommend this production to all. See more Tom F 07/26/2024 A remarkable true story, but not a very strongly executed series. See more Read all reviews
