What to Know

Critics Consensus

A panoptic view of wrestling's most infamous overseer, Mr. McMahon wobbles around its subject's radioactive reputation but never lacks for engrossingly lurid details to dish.

At the end, the viewer is left feeling as if they have experienced a night at the wrestling: shocked, fascinated, but with a sneaking suspicion that they still don’t quite know fact from fiction. Go to Full Review
John Anderson Wall Street Journal 09/26/2024
As a study of business and marketing in the modern era, the series is consistently enlightening, if depressing. Go to Full Review
Dylan Roth Observer 09/26/2024
Save for a cumulative, damning hour and a half of this six-part series, Mr. McMahon doesn’t feel much different from the sort of self-congratulating retrospective that WWE regularly pumps out to its fanbase. Go to Full Review
Stephanie Morgan Common Sense Media 10/29/2024
While the show will intrigue viewers interested in the darker aspects of wrestling, its unflinching focus on toxic behavior and manipulation may leave many feeling deeply unsettled. Go to Full Review

But Mr McMahon plays more like an opinionated Wikipedia article than a piece of narrative entertainment. Fans will be pleased, but outsiders might view the entire thing with a degree of incredulity. Go to Full Review

Cristobal, C @Violet__ Dec 31 I was expecting something more. Most of us already know this from podcasts and the like. Still a good watch and very interesting. See more Joe G @Review_Joe Aug 25 For those who love wrestling or used to love it like myself, you'll enjoy this six part documentary. I enjoyed going back in time through the different generations of the WWE. For McMahon himself, I couldn't help thinking about that final question and his legacy. It's almost like the doc series is a final nail in the coffin to the character Vince McMahon. I think there's so much more to him and it only scratched the surface. See more Kimmo K @Kimble98 Aug 5 Very interesting content for someone who's a current or former WWE fan. See more Shaun R @Shaun666 Aug 1 I’m a huge wrestling fan and everything in this series is stuff that a big wrestling fan is going to know. I was hoping for something a bit more insightful. See more frank s @RT68436015 01/08/2025 I heard one of the producers said that they made 14 cuts of this and every cut was different That’s alone is a problem and insane thing to say publicly The fact that you are making a documentary and not talking about his childhood and for example mentioning he was born in north carolina in 1945 or something Not even once Or go deep into his childhood This should be called a series/show not a documentary See more Clark T @RT11871854 01/05/2025 While this documentary doesn't reveal anything that we didn't already know, we just learn more about how creepy, and manipulative Vince can be. We also get to see how he only protects those that are close and helpful to him, I have to say this has to be one of the better Pro-Wrestling documentaries I've seen because of how they spotlight the business side of the company as well as some behind the scenes of some historic events.
