What to Know

Critics Consensus

Murderville's improvisational premise can lead to stretches of dead air, but the moments of spontaneous inspiration are worthwhile -- and it helps to have Will Arnett on the case.

Arnett is undeniably funny and the writing in the non-improvised aspects of the show can be clever enough. Keep it up and find the right people who are willing to play this TV game, and this show could really kill. Go to Full Review

I like the willingness to experiment and this is such a fun idea (it’s based on the BBC series “Murder in Successville”) but the results are hit and miss. Go to Full Review

Will Arnett and a rotating roster of celebrity guests provide some decent chuckles, but this improv-based police-procedural spoof doesn’t give its guests enough space to get on a real roll. Go to Full Review

Murderville is distinctly Hollywood and American, for better and for worse. Go to Full Review

The best part about it is the action and reaction of people as they're doing absurd things, driven by Will Arnett who is completely over the top. Go to Full Review

All in all, Murderville is extremely silly, occasionally wince-inducing, and at times comically inspired. Arnett fans in particular will enjoy it as he's in every scene, and those with a predilection for offbeat comedy will, too. Go to Full Review

His guest stars all add their own flair, to varying effect, and while some bits meander as the improvisational format demands the scenes change quickly enough that it's almost always forgiven. Murderville's addictive premise makes for a damn good time. See more Patrick F 02/03/2023 I really liked this show. It's unlike anything I have seen before. It's a spoof of cop dramas but also in a way a spoof of cop drama spoofs. The format was great with a different celebrity guest each week. I thought it was original and funny. Just all around silly irreverence. Worth a watch. See more dave d 12/25/2022 Murderville is like something you'd see at a small dinner theater. A little goes a long way, but Will Arnett and a strong guest cast make this bingeable and watchable. It's empty calories, but it's a fun and at times uproarious. See more Dave C 12/17/2022 There's an edge to it, with the willingness of the unscripted celebrities making it either mediocre or really enjoyable.
