The American plot, with middling American actors and a distracting voiceover, is a C. The Colombian plot -- with Brazilian actor Wagner Moura in a gorgeous performance as the grand, monstrous Escobar -- is an A.

Narcos is power-packed, addictive and worth the ten hours you'll spend stuck to your screen.

Even if you're already familiar with the broad strokes of Escobar's rise and fall, it's worth watching Narcos to experience the textures of the Colombian drug trade at its ugliest.

For all its flaws, Narcos' first season could just be one hell of a prequel to a mindblowingly good second season.

Narcos [is] an electrifying new Netflix series.

Narcos is a good show where bad men do bad things and good people get hurt. There have been plenty of shows that cover this familiar ground, but only Narcos deals with the truth behind the fiction, for better or for worse.

It's a very well-executed version of an outlandish story that is still, when told across 10 hours, functionally familiar.

Narcos is shot through with a winning mixture of the tragic and comic. It's savagely funny when it looks at the contradiction at the heart of America's relationship with drugs.

Ultimately, though, and for all its deliberate ambiguity in places, Narcos is most memorable for the way it makes clear the profound difference between being brave and having what people here call "balls." That alone may be worth 10 hours of your time.

Finding out how Escobar rose in power and status to become a murderous megalomaniacal drug lord is as fascinating as it is frightening.

Beautifully shot and with Swiss watch timing, this (let's just say it) addictive drama on the drug trade is historically accurate, with the beats of a particularly mesmerizing thriller.

Like any decent dealer, Narcos keeps offering a hint of the quality stuff to keep me sweet.

After a slow start, Netflix's new 10-episode drama Narcos, which is about the pursuit of the famous Colombian cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar, gets its hooks in and is hard to stop watching.
