What to Know

Critics Consensus

Sailing along on pluck and spiffy production value, Nautilus doesn't quite live up to the grandeur of Jules Verne's fiction but makes for a pleasingly campy adventure fit for the whole family.

I did not at all regret the time I spent here, even though I sometimes had no idea what was going on or found it ridiculous when I did, as there was usually some stimulating activity or bit of scenery or detail of steampunk design to enjoy. Go to Full Review

An adventure worthy of its budget, with a set of heroes worthy of our allegiance, attention, and admiration. Go to Full Review
John Anderson Wall Street Journal Jun 27
“Nautilus” is a hard series not to like, given it has very few pretentions, a devotion to high adventure and a freewheeling approach to killing off characters and twisting the plot -- all the while maintaining some fealty to Verne. Go to Full Review

The journey of this live-action adventure from Disney to AMC was almost as perilous as Jules Verne's vendetta against the East India Company that came to symbolize imperialism & colonialism. The swashbuckling series is family-friendly yet somewhat cheesy. Go to Full Review

Te Te M @Tetee Oct 27 Why were they originally not going to release it??? Why no season 2??? It's so good & wholesome, for the whole family. Lot's of action, adventure, intrigue, a little bit of everything good. See more Paulo Henrique C Oct 22 To watch this show, you must remember that nothing makes sense on a real world perspective. Then you can watch a few episodes. But then, even on its own world this show starts making no sense at all. Nemo is unable to solve anything on his own designed (or Co-designed ) submarine. All human relationship and problematics are solved like old power rangers show , in a very childish and simple way. But the main thing : the Nautilus is a piece of bad engineering. It’s always broken or sitting down at the bottom of the ocean. Every episode just reminds you why the screenwriters were suffering to fill in episodes with “whatever” , cause it is very hard to make plausible the main storyline which is based on this “marvelous “ submarine which simply does not work. See more Alfred K Oct 11 Great show, lots of fun to watch See more Melissa C Aug 22 This is loosely based on the Jules Verne novel so don't go in with those expectations and you will be okay. I actually found it highly enjoyable. Perfect for a summer evening to enjoy the action and adventure. Plus I felt it was intriguing for him to be exploring the seas. I hope he even runs into mer people somewhere so lots of places where this could go. I like that my daughter can pop up in my lap and watch with me. Very steam punkish and I hope someone makes a second season. See more Stu H Aug 16 This is best fun filled family adventure show we have seen in a very long time. Great story, superb screenwork, story, costumes & actors/acting all 5 star for us. We love it, it's a swashbuckling adventure for sure. Here's hoping for a season 2 & more... See more Mark M. @markri Aug 13 This show is truly awful. The writers don’t seem to have read any Jules Verne nor any maritime/naval or electrical engineering. A sub leaking into the toward torpedo room suddenly pitches nose up. Use limited electrical storage in lead acid batteries to boil water to power steam engines. A structural failure of the hull with the sub at the sea floor only has water trickling in rather than a high pressure stream that can cut flesh or steel.
