With the exception of the ones that work, the remaining are patchy, scratchy attempts. Go to Full Review

There's a lot of beautiful cinematography, and the acting is top notch. It's the stories that need a bit of development. Go to Full Review

Birithivy Y @RT66170947 08/23/2021 Navarasa - 9/10. The much hyped and anticipated anthology series Navarasa is finally here, and it has created a little bit of a division in reviews. Either people love it or hate it. I fall in the love it crowd. Yes, there are some shorts that don't hit the bullseye in terms of effect, but the overall package and the better shorts makes this anthology series a superb production. Curated and produced by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan, the films explore the 9 emotions with a variety of story. The stories take place in different settings and different situations, and each one has been made with care. For online content, this is the best shot anthology series so far in tamil. The way the various cinematographers have captured their stories is amazing to see. They all seem to be having fun with the lens, really elevating the emotional quotient of the stories. Each director throws their own spin on the stories. Not all of shorts are equal in quality though, but when marathoning them all together you feel the effect very well. The top shorts are definitely the Karthick Naren, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rathindran R. Prasad, Arvind Swamy, and Karthik Subbaraj shorts. Each one really captures the emotion of the tale really well. The other shorts are decent, but they feel like they're missing something here and there. I think the reason people don't like the series is maybe because people are watching an episode and watching another one later on. When you watch the films together, you get an understanding as to what the overall product is. To me, I liked the notion of allowing these amazing performers to explore the dramatic side of the stories. The acting is top notch because theres so much to explore in each emotion. A great watch overall and a full package of entertainment! See more Read all reviews
