Tv Season Info

No-nonsense therapist and recent divorcée Dani Santino (Callie Thorne) takes a job with the New York Hawks football team in order to gain some stability following the major shakeup in her life. Though she treats patients from a variety of high-profile fields, her main focus is on the talented-but-troubled Hawks wide receiver T.K. King (Mehcad Brooks). Marc Blucas and Scott Cohen also star.

Further sanding, preferably followed by a power-washing, is required on USA's Necessary Roughness.

My heart tells me that any show that revolves around an honest-to-goodness native of Commack deserves an A+. My head tells me this one deserves a C.

Like all mothers on TV dramas, Angela starts out annoying. That means we can probably count on her to say something wise at just the moment we least expect it.

The show is just an undemanding, entertaining, and sometimes whimsical ride. Yup, it's likable.

I think there's potential in this idea. But the execution and/or the network aren't right for the idea.

If plot is incidental to your enjoyment of a show--and especially if you're already a fan of Ms. Thorne's all-in acting style--then Necessary Roughness offers OK entertainment.

Necessary Roughness isn't necessarily believable. But I totally buy Thorne-in fact I love her.

When the USA Network's penchant for "TV-lite" works, you get shows like Royal Pains and Psyche. When it doesn't, you just want to put your eyes out.
