Critic Reviews for Nip/Tuck Season 5

All Critics (23) | Top Critics (13)

The humor provided by the new setting makes the show a bit more palatable than it was last season, but Nip/Tuck is still Nip/Tuck, for both good and ill.

Oct 30, 2007 | Full Review…

The shift in setting has resulted in opening episodes that are so wickedly funny and energetic that Nip/Tuck seems like a whole new show - or at least one that has recaptured its past glory.

Nov 13, 2018 | Full Review…

Moving the action from Miami to Hollywood was actually a fun reinvention of the show. ...For a while.

Entertaining but no longer enthralling, FX's reliably risque Nip/Tuck returns for its fifth season with an eye towards threading a new needle.

The plastic-surgery drama just keeps on spinning smart, tart, funny, tragic, sexy, grotesque tales about vanity and contemporary American life.

After a few years of serial killers and skinheads, it's good to visit the lighter side of this series.

Oct 30, 2007 | Full Review…

[Season Five] had a fair amount of bright spots serving as reminders of Nip/Tuck's capabilities as a drama scathingly examining the dark side of plastic surgery and human nature.

Nov 13, 2018 | Rating: 6.8/10 | Full Review…

The show will never again scale the heights of its first two seasons, which were both as perfect as even the best fare you've seen on TV in the last ten years. And yet we keep watching.

Nov 13, 2018 | Rating: 3.5/5 | Full Review…

Revels in the shortcomings and dysfunction of its characters. You can't say that Sean and Christian don't necessarily deserve what they get because they are real scoundrels. There's a certain charm in watching bad things happen to them.

Nov 13, 2018 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

Nothing beats Sharon Gless' portrayal of Sean's psycho-obsessed agent, Colleen.

Feb 2, 2009 | Full Review…

It's typical Nip/Tuck melodrama, and indeed, the histrionics are part of the show's ongoing appeal.

Jan 22, 2008 | Rating: 6/10 | Full Review…

The actors are relishing the change of scenery and all that it brings, and [Ryan] Murphy himself seems more engaged as well.

I still liked this season, but the first bit of it was kind of dull. I think that stems from the fact that I didn't really like the change from Miami to Beverly Hills.
