bimo H. @bimo_thecrittic Jan 10 Season 3 was genuinely so bad i freaking hated HATED norma lore b- i dont care about her or her story i HATED NORMA ATTENTION what was going through the writer head allowing this b- of writing norma ruined the entire season , also whats up with any tiny little thing happening these girl turn against each other, i get it jail and stuff but come on See more Pathetic b @RT13292975 09/23/2024 So this is the moment, maybe, where the writers decided that this would be longer journey then, maybe, first anticipated. Certainly there is a noticable change of tone, that continues on into the middle of season 4. Everybody is still doing their best. But while the other characters are being developed, Chapman becomes somewhat of a cartoon figure. In her lines, in who is she is supposed to be and in her acting. She was the character of the narrative that brought us into the world that is being expanded upon, heavily, here. Her "transformation", to me, feels akward and messy. Heavy handed. Still, in general, there are a lot of good moments. Our discovery of the character of Healy has developed really, really well. And much slower. Huge contrast here. The only time when you can justify a strong shift in personality in anyone is right after some more major turn in their story. Chapmans development just seems to have been more like a creative decision made and the script had to be written to accomodate this. I hope they finally get rid of Laura P. - I can't stand her fake eyebrows See more 01/14/2021 Thought the first 2 series were good, some great characters, but series 3 seemed to have lost the plot, I know thus is a female prison, but all the lesbian sex detracts from the story lines, its almost like the writer or producer has some sort of fetish for this. See more 10/09/2019 Orange Is The New Black routinely pays homage to its form, by referencing books throughout the entire Netflix original series. After the first season, the show heavily diverges from the truth of the memoir it was based on, though the show still makes an effort to honor books by including them in the characters lives. Not only do inmates rely on story to get through their incarceration, but their incarceration becomes a story (ie. Orange Is The New Black: A Memoir by Piper Kerman). OITNB may weave a tall tale, but a tale that is rooted in truth. Although the lives of Chapman and the other inmates depicted on the show are fictitious, they are based on real people in true situations. The show brings to light real issues that exist within the prison system, and educates us while entertaining us. By grouping all of the worst-case scenarios in a Murphys-Law sort of way, the show educates people about prison life, laws, and serves as a sort of guide on How-To avoid prison.
