Set between the dying days of the Edwardian era and the end of World War I, "Parade's End" follows the conflicted relationship between conservative English aristocrat Christopher Tietjens, his beautiful but headstrong wife, Sylvia, and fearless young suffragette Valentine Wannop. Acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Tom Stoppard ("Empire of the Sun," "Shakespeare in Love") adapted the miniseries from four novels by Ford Madox Ford. BAFTA winner Susanna White directs the five-part drama.

Alain E @AlainE Jul 15 Very nice BBC produced series that deals personal relationships among members of the British aristocracy as the society changes around the period including the first world war. Of course this is awfully generic and the attention falls on the details. Tom Stoppard wrote an excellent script and the main characters are played very well. Mostly everyone takes a wrong turn and only in the end there is a possibility of a positive outcome. Very good reproduction of period elements. Excellent cinematography. See more Don L @DonLePan Jul 3 This is for the most part an extremely good five-part mini-series, but you wouldn't know it from the first episode, which is slow, disjointed, and sometimes confusing. Episodes 2 and 3 are much, much better! Episode 4 is not quite so good--some of the flaws of Episode 1 come back--but Episode 5 is an absolutely marvellous finale. The script sizzles, the characters are fascinating, the action is gripping, and it's all entirely believable. The acting is extraordinarily good throughout. See more Read all reviews
