Critics Consensus

Teeming with heady concepts and themes, Paradise is an overstuffed but addictively ambitious reunion of Sterling K. Brown and creator Dan Fogelman.

Much of “Paradise” is hammy as hell... Marsden and Brown are actors who know how to harness the saccharine, though, burning sugar in order to give the narrative dimension. Go to Full Review

What was most exciting about this first season of Paradise was the momentum it was able to maintain — it had big “limited series” energy, each episode playing like creator Dan Fogelman wasn’t holding anything back for a second season. Go to Full Review

Sterling K. Brown is eminently watchable and a gifted actor who persuasively sells the roiling emotions inside Xavier. Go to Full Review

I like the emotion. I like what [Sterling K. Brown] brings to it. Go to Full Review

Paradise is an extraordinarily crafted mystery thriller with a plethora of compelling characters and unexpected twists. Over the course of eight highly intense episodes, Paradise plays out like a hybrid of 24, Lost and Snowpiercer. Go to Full Review

Although the show is from Dan Fogelman, who created the subtle and complex This Is Us, some dialogue in Paradise is bad enough to set your teeth on edge. Go to Full Review

Savanna S @RT91427197 Oct 21, 2026 Can’t wait for the next season! The twists and turns throughout kept me on the edge of my seat. I do recall it taking a good several episodes to get me hooked with season one. Love the cast, love the show. Wish one particular character lasted longer 💕 See more Antonio A @Apepo Oct 20, 2026 This show is something else. Strong performances. Story is amazing. Directors are always 5 stars in every episode. Hope season 3 is the same level as 1 and 2. See more R T @RT56720175 Sep 23, 2026 One of my favorite shows. The first episode ALONE is a masterpiece. The emotion, the multiple timelines it follows, the acting, the entire story, and premise tie together perfectly. Lots of plot twists. See more Raquel E @raquelea Sep 17, 2026 An ambitious mystery with an intriguing premise that gets stronger as the story expands beyond its initial murder investigation. I enjoyed the evolving mystery, the use of flashbacks, and the fact that the season provides satisfying answers rather than withholding everything for another season, with James Marsden being a particular standout. However, I never became deeply invested in Xavier or many of the supporting characters, some of the emotional and philosophical ideas felt underdeveloped, and the story occasionally lost my attention. The performances and payoff are strong, but I was more interested in uncovering what happened than emotionally invested in where the story goes next. See more Sin N @sinnaa88 Sep 14, 2026 For someone who can’t sit still, this show kept me hooked. Although the storyline did drag a bit, I felt it was well-written. The small details that seemed unnecessary at the time turned out to be crucial later on. Overall, I enjoyed it. It’s been a long time since I’ve truly appreciated a show like this. See more Marvel N @Marvel_Nerd Sep 8, 2026 Even though it didn’t stick the landing, this show is INCREDIBLE! How the flashbacks reflect to the presents and the trauma and grief that is felt throughout this show is AMAZING! WATCH THIS! WATCH THIS NOW! See more Read all reviews
