Tv Season Info
Partners has its share of clunkers, but Lawrence and Grammer retain their comedic timing while also pairing up nicely.
Unfortunately, the jokes are tired, and the directing is old-fashioned and stagey. The two stars slog on gamely, but they earn more sympathy than laughter.
A cynical, feckless money-grab by veteran talents who should know better, it's hard to imagine why "Partners" got made in the first place, except to fill airtime.
Grammer knows how to make pompous and devious funny and the supporting cast looks strong.
This is very much an old-school sitcom, just with a slightly raunchier edge. But there's a reason that genre has proven imperishable on TV. The parade-of-punch-lines formula works. And it does here, too, although in a slightly hit-or-miss fashion.
