Critic Reviews for Party Down Season 2

All Critics (13) | Top Critics (10)

Party Down's appeal lies in its acute understanding of actors as insecure extroverts, writers as bashful narcissists, and unfulfilled artists of all types as quick-draw cynics.

Apr 23, 2010 | Full Review…

The world of Party Down - and the bizarre smaller worlds the waiters travel to each week - is so entertainingly silly that the show deserves a chance to try going on without its leading man.

Apr 23, 2010 | Full Review…

Party Down took awhile to jell, but it has hit its stride as one of TV's most finely observed comedies.

Apr 23, 2010 | Rating: A | Full Review…

This comedy not only features great jokes and dynamic dialogue but also rolls out provocative stories week after week, thanks to the depth of the show's central premise.

May 16, 2018 | Full Review…

The writing, which simulates the illusion of off-the-cuff improv while being, by all accounts, tightly scripted, has been matched flawlessly to the individual comic talents of what is an exceptional cast.

It's not like anything else on TV.

May 15, 2018 | Rating: A | Full Review…

Party Down is a hilarious tribute to the broken-down yet ever-striving characters that sit on the Hollywood sidelines.

Apr 23, 2010 | Rating: 3.5/4 | Full Review…

The rest of the original crew is back, in varying degrees of denial, cluelessness, incompetence and narcissism. They have been missed.

Apr 23, 2010 | Full Review…

The comedy never quite lifts into giddiness, but there are lots of solid, unexpected laughs. And isn't that cause for celebration?

May 16, 2018 | Full Review…

Party Down's strength lies within its wide range of characters. They each represent a different subset of the Hollywood dream, but they also each manage to go behind their face-value archetypes and form an utterly impressive whole.

May 15, 2018 | Full Review…

There is not a single episode in Season Two that is not funny and well written, and not one that isn't also pretty depressing.

Audience Reviews for Party Down: Season 2

  • Jun 25, 2020
Can't believe I didn't know about this show until June, 2020! Fun watching all these characters we know from other shows mesh (or not mesh) into this hilarious band of misfits. Loved season 1, just started season 2, disappointed that it only lasted that long (but understandable, given the particulars).

From seeing him in The State, Wet Hot American Summer, Role Models, Eastbound and Down, Children's Hospital and Party Down, I can easily say that Ken Marino is one of my favorite comedic actors. This short series is a showcase for his talents....A gem of show!
