Excellent, Victorian era horror series Well acted and directed. I enjoyed this immensely 👌🏻👌🏻

I loved the first season and let me just say I know a werewolf when I see one.

Penny Dreadful is one of my favorite TV shows, the first season may be a bit slow and perhaps sometimes the story does stumble but keep it up. Their actors, acting, costumes and attention to detail really shine and were really enjoyed by me and my family.

I love the idea and the setting, the cast is good except for some miscasting, but I hate the characters, I find the story disappointing, and the thing as a whole disgusting. I blame the writer.

Loved this whole show. It was so good.
      • May 21, 2022
The concept is interesting, and the acting is good. The loose plot line (of the first season) is finding Mena, We get to know some of the main character's back stories (this, I always enjoy). Woke level: lightly woke. writers interject gratuitous gay/bi characters/situations that are disproportionately large as compared to populous data and era.

Good, solid start for the series but it gets much, much better in season 2. Eva Green is already fantastic.
      • Apr 12, 2021
Amazingly dark and gripping! Fantastic cast, love Eva Green as main character Vanessa Ives.

An entertaining bit of fluff. Think of it as a gothy and somewhat heavy-handed version of "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen." Seeing the stories of some of horror's iconic figures interwoven was interesting and the setting scratched just the right itch for what I was wanting at the time. The show suffers from an excess of predictability and gore that is so over the top that it's more laughable than horrific. Overall, however, it was the kind of enjoyable fluff that one might watch knowing that it's not very good yet *just* good enough to be a diversion.

Nice and moody pastiche of every Victorian monster theme wrapped up in one show. I enjoyed every aspect of this luscious production except the Dorian Gray dalliances which were only added to have "homosexuality" in the show. All the other segments seemed to fit the story line except for Gray which did nothing whatever to advance the storyline and was only shoehorned in to give the leftist activists no excuse to attack the show.
