It’s certainly a tale unlike any other, although...it’s also a trivial one, even by today’s low nonfiction standards. Go to Full Review

Celebrity endorsements are as old as modern advertising, but as the series points out, Pepsi was taking it to a whole new level in the late 1980s and 1990s. Go to Full Review
Pallavi Keswani The Hindu 01/23/2024
The four-part docu-series is fun only when it’s not taking itself too seriously with its underdog story. Go to Full Review

The story is just too good and engaging for anyone to screw up, and this was more than solid. Go to Full Review

The story is wild, silly, and filled with relics of pre-aughts nostalgia, and most importantly, it’s low stakes and arguably, victimless. Go to Full Review

Jimmy M 05/18/2024 Really enjoyed this. Personally I’d have walked with the substantial financial offer… See more david f 01/12/2024 Pepsi Co is why so many people hate corporations. They will do the profitable thing but rarely the right thing. Michael Avanetti is a slime ball. I would have rated the series a 4 star if this dirt bag was cut out. See more Patrick F 02/03/2023 This was a fun and well designed and edited documentary. While I remember the Pepsi commercial in question, I was too young to understand or remember any news of the courtroom drama playing out in this David v. Goliath story. Overall the film presented the controversy in an engaging way that kept me entertained through the four episodes. If you were a child of the 1990s like me then this documentary is for you. I was surprised that in the end I had more sympathy for Pepsi than John Leonard and his team. When I saw the commercial as a kid I did not for even a fraction of second think the offer of a Harrier fighter jet was real. The real fun of this film is that after watching it, you can be your own judge about who was right or wrong. See more Mikko R 01/07/2023 Very interesting story from the 90s made in a captivating documentary full of twists. See more Lulu A 12/09/2022 Excellent insight into the corrupt and greedy companies that try to hoodwink the gullible public. I'll never buy Pepsi or Coke again. Well done to these guys trying to outwit them it's a shame you didn't get the desired outcome See more dustin d 12/06/2022 I remember this ad campaign and that someone sued Pepsi to get the promised jet. It was interesting to see the entire backstory behind the ad and meet the personalities involved. I misremembered Pepsi giving the kid the jet in the end. Even though the lawsuit ultimately failed, I always admire people who expend a lot of time and energy proving a stupid point. See more Read all reviews
