Hieronymus B @RT05455931 09/11/2023 Charming English crime series that's light on violence and long on humour. The show follows a reluctant D.I., Richard Griffiths starring as Henry Crabbe, whose honesty and integrity clash with the politics of the local constabulary. Meanwhile, all he wants is to cook and run the small restaurant that he and his wife & accountant Margaret have opened with an eye on retirement. Unfortunately for Henry, his career oriented boss has other ideas. Five series were produced and broadcast between 1994 and 1997 with stories highlighting small town England with nostalgia particular to that period. Recommended for foodies that love a good mystery and can tolerate the lower picture quality of a program produced before HDTV was mainstream. See more Read all reviews
