Critic Reviews for Poldark Season 4
All Critics (16) | Top Critics (8) | Fresh (13) | Rotten (3)
It's a deep joy to be transported so effortlessly to a time when you could stand reflectively on a Cornish clifftop in an ankle-length cloak...and not see half of southwest London spread out on the beaches below you.
Popular but layered, reflecting on society as well as portraying it, Poldark is arguably what television drama is for.
Cap'n, if you don't mind me saying, I do miss Judd (humour) and...Cousin Frances (pathos) and...Aunt Agatha (humour and pathos) but I'm not going anywhere, and am not about to transfer my loyalties.
Demelza and Ross finally admitted that they're both as bad as each other. "Is it now too late?" No, don't worry, you've got a whole series left to mess each other around a bit more.
The premiere definitely gives fans what they've been waiting for all these months.
Horsfield infuses Poldark's roller-coaster romance plots with dramatic realities, such as economic instability, class struggles, infidelity and political corruption - issues that are surprisingly topical today.
It's business as usual, this series premiere, more a continuation of last series than a new departure, which is just how we like it. However uncertain the times, there are still certainties in Poldark's characters.
These eight new episodes do not disappoint, and a stark finale sets a powerful stage for a fifth and final season.
Don't even start on us for getting innocently excited about our beloved Poldark.
Why do I not get what the rest of you all see in this potboiler?
Watching the premiere of the fourth series made me feel emotionally polluted, as if I was somehow complicit in its stance that most middle-aged women are raunch-obsessed zombies hooked on Turner's quivering breasts.
There will be flaring nostrils and quivering hindquarters before summer's out, mark my words.
Audience Reviews for Poldark: Season 4

Jan 29, 2020This season was better at pacing than some of the previous seasons, but as usual, the historical aspects were excellent. Poldark has always done a great job of shedding light on corruption, especially within the judicial process at all levels. The ease of corruption within this process and the huge harm to human life and dignity are much more honest and raw in this series. Touching on a deep problem within our government system, sadly, still relevant today.

Jan 03, 2020Poldark has everything I look for in a TV series: great characters, adventure, drama, joy, romance, inspiration, and feel good moments. The acting and the story are not exaggerated like in a soap opera.
-
Jun 18, 2019Although it is more of the same which is slightly tedious it starts to heat up towards the end of the season.
-
Mar 09, 2019Great acting, fantastic visuals, exciting stories. What more could you want?
-
Feb 02, 2019Cornwall is not a "city" as the season info below states.
-
Nov 12, 2018Love it to death! Can't get enough of Ross! Hate George, who nails it in the hate department. Love the cinematography all the way down to the clothes. The history is dead on! The Novelist would have been so proud! Well written!
