The stories of two young African-American men from Chicaho's South Side who achieve their dream of graduating college. It's not an easy journey for either. The average high-school graduation rate in Chicago for black males is 41 percent; and, as one's elementary-school teacher observes, many children don't expect to make it to 18. Filmed over five years, the film follows them from high school to college; and details the obstacles they overcome on their way to earning their college diplomas.
