Tv Season Info

In the second season of this medical drama, Oceanside Wellness Center faces several problems, including unpaid debt and a nearby competitor called Pacific Wellcare. However, just because Oceanside Wellness and Pacific Wellcare are rival practices, that doesn't mean their doctors are off-limits romantically to each other: Cooper (Paul Adelstein) dates Charlotte (KaDee Strickland) and Violet (Amy Brenneman) dates Sheldon (Brian Benben). Meanwhile, Addison (Kate Walsh) gets a visit from her brother, Archer (Grant Show), who soon moves to town and winds up causing trouble for her, Naomi (Audra McDonald) and Sam (Taye Diggs); and Violent becomes pregnant and has to choose between two men in her life.

Shonda Rhimes's Grey's Anatomy spinoff is a fill-in-the-blanks kind of drama that tells cliched stories all over again, with no imagination.

It's hard to imagine reinventing the concept of the doctor show. But in a way, that's what Private Practice sets out to do in its new-look second season - and it doesn't do a bad job.

I'm still waiting for this overqualified cast to get material that allows them to act like grown-ups.

In a reflection on the show itself, the practice is in trouble.
